Admission Requirements at Lupane State University

Undergraduate Programs

  • • Application form completed via RocApply
  • • High school certificate
  • • Proof of English Language knowledge: TOEFL(minimum score 75), IELTS (minimum band score 5.5), CEFR (minimum grade B2), or any other equivalent.
  • • Passport photographs (scanned)

  • • Transfer students must submit original copies of their transcripts detailing the courses taken at their previous institution.
  • • Depending on the program applied for the student must possess at least a ‘C’ in all their required subjects for admission.

Presidential Scholarships

The Zimbabwe government offers scholarships to students that perform exceptionally in their studies. The scholarships are not only limited to international students only but available also to broad-based students. 1 500 scholarships are awarded to highly excelling students each year. The student covers the student’s tuition fees as well as accommodation fees also not forgetting a monthly waiver to cater to the student’s basic needs.

HigherLife Foundation:

Higherlife Foundation is an organization founded in 1996, whose main purpose has been to support orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa through education and material support. Educational support has been provided through the Capernaum Scholarship for orphaned and vulnerable children and the Joshua Nkomo Scholarship for highly gifted children. Other than Education support, the firm also supports beneficiaries with Guardianship and Pastoral Care.

The university was established through an act of the Zimbabwe parliament in 2004 and opened its doors to 14 pioneer students in the faculty of Agricultural Sciences in August 2005. The expansion of university education in Zimbabwe is part of government policy adopted at the onset of independence.

In 1980 the government of Zimbabwe embarked on a major program to extend educational access to the hitherto underserved at both primary and secondary school levels. This exercise was primarily meant to address historical imbalances in the human resource base-born out of the discriminatory educational system prevalent before independence.

To contribute research-based knowledge and learning for the development of humanity by working closely with communities and attracting the best researchers and students from Zimbabwe and beyond.

The University aims to be a one-stop-shop for knowledge-based solutions for challenges faced by community groups and the private sector nationally and internationally.

Regardless, Lupane is a very simple area where people take short walks or jog across the town because of how easy and accessible the city is to everything, school, shops are all less than 1km away from each other. İt can be noted that public transport, in general, is very cheap and prompt as there are buses used to get around. Taxis are also very active in the city and these slightly expensive than using the bus.

Accommodation Lupane State University

On Campus Accomodation at Lupane State University

LSU offers standard accommodation to its learners in the form of hostels. These are furnished with a table, beds, mattresses, chairs, a two-plate electric cooker, a bookshelf, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. It is important to note that Lupane State University is a growing university therefore due to its location it does not have any off-campus accommodation, therefore, it has very limited on-campus accommodation which has to be secured early and on time.

Cleaning: Rooms are thoroughly cleaned every two weeks by the University genitors however students are expected to clean their rooms daily.

Bedding: Students are expected to supply their own bed linens, cooking utensils, cutlery, and dishes.

Laundry: There are laundry facilities that students can use for a small charge.

About Lupane

Lupane is a rural, semi-arid area, A new university has been established under the name Lupane State University, which caters for the rest of Matabeleland North Province. Lupane town is the main center for the district and is the location of the Matabeleland North government head offices. It also houses the Provincial hospital (under construction).

As a developing town one can get to explore the town and get to witness the town grow with infrastructure being built from schools, entertainment centers, shopping malls to even more Universities. The town is a breath of fresh away from the crowded city life it has fewer occupants thereby making the crime rate close to none existent and a peaceful city.
