There is a variety of things you can do in Zambia once the sunsets. Depending on your definition of ‘fun’, you can go to the cinema, visit the mall, go dancing at a nightclub or relax at a bar after a long day. The Zambian nightlife is very vibrant especially during the weekend.

Tourist towns such as Livingston have a continuous nightlife because of tourists on vacation. If you are staying in a tourist town, be guaranteed you will never run out of things to do or places to go to revel yourself during the night.

Here are a few places worth mentioning whenever the Zambian nightlife pops up in a conversation.

Bongwe Pub & Grill (Lusaka)

This is a popular spot for expats and tourists who come in to socialize after a long day at work. The place is a tropical dive bar, set in an open-air shack, and centered on a palm tree. There's a pool table where patrons can play a few games as they play.

Cosy Jo's (Kitwe)

Compared to the nightlife of Lusaka, Kitwe lies low, however, this place makes up for all the energy needed in a night environment. Cosy Jo’s boasts of a garden bar that is a great view for revelers seeking to relax and listen to an African beat while they sip on a cold drink.

Sky Bar (Lusaka)

Sitting on top of the Foxdale Court shopping center, this bar attracts a younger crowd because of its music. It usually plays Hip-Hop and House Music. It is a common hang out spot for young university students who are looking at having a great time out.

Like South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana, Zambia has a culture of shebeens as well. For the sake of experience, students need to visit a shebeen during their stay in Zambia.

Shebeens are houses mostly found in townships selling alcohol and playing music. Revelers can choose to sit in and drink from there. People usually meet there to drink and socialize. In case you are in a small town and you need to let your hair down, be guaranteed you will bump into a shebeen.

NB: Please note that students are encouraged to drink responsibly when they go out. Other activities can be done sober-minded. Make the most of your time in Tanzania and use it as wisely as possible.
