Tuition and Scholarships at Haliç University

As one of the leading institutions in Turkey, Halic University offers numerous courses and programs at various levels ranging from language programs, associate degree programs, undergraduate and postgraduate programs, double degree programs and other diploma programs.

For newly admitted students who could not fulfil the criteria for admission, preparatory courses are provided for them. Due to its multiple program choice and academic excellence, Halic University is a highly recognizable institution in Turkey.

It is peculiar to note that Halic University is globally recognized, hence, the degrees awarded upon completion of the programs at the university are accepted worldwide.

Furthermore, due to its multiple international collaboration with institutions from around the globe, students at Halic University can benefit from numerous scholarship and funding opportunities.

Halic University is also considered to be one of the most affordable institutions in Istanbul, as such, attracts students from all parts of the world.

Similarly, the university offers part-time and full-time learning options to students according to their learning preferences. The tuition at this institution depends on the level and program of study. Tuition for the 2020/2021 academic year is as follows;

Undergraduate programs: Starting from $3,500 (annually).

Master programs

  • Starting from $2,600 for Non- thesis program (whole program).
  • Starting from $3,000 for the thesis program (whole program).

PhD programs:

  • Starting from $7,700 (whole program).

The tuition for undergraduate programs is payable in two instalments per year, while those for the Master and PhD programs are payable in two instalments for the total duration of the program.

SCHOLARSHIP AT HALIC UNIVERSITY

Students at undergraduate, postgraduate, and other levels of study at the university are eligible to apply for merit scholarship provided by the university.

Current international and local students who performed excellently in the previous academic session are automatically eligible for the merit scholarship.

Merit scholarships are awarded to students with outstanding grades having completed at least a semester at Halic University.

Similarly, there are numerous state-sponsored scholarships for students. Students from various countries are expected to check with their embassies and foreign ministries for scholarship opportunities at Halic University.

Students who represent the country and the university in various arts and sports competitions are eligible for social scholarships.

It is, however, important to note that all the percentage of the scholarship is granted per the discretion of the board of directors. Current international students can also apply from the Turkish government scholarship known as Turkiye Buslari.

This scholarship covers housing cost, monthly stipends, entire tuition fee upon the maintenance of a very high CGPA, and health insurance.

Turkiye Buslari is opened every semester and students are advised to check for eligibility requirements for each scholarship before applying.

About Haliç University

Halic University was founded in 1998 by the Foundation for Children with Leukaemia. As a foundational institution, Halic University is dedicated to improving public service by providing world-class educational standard and research.

Social events and festivities

The conservatory of the institution provides indoor and outdoor facilities where social and art events are conducted. Similarly, theatre plays, art exhibition, concerts,  with its multipurpose hall with a capacity of over 900 persons.

Social events, arts festivals, cultural events, and other student activities are organized in the Arts Center for students at the university.

The university boasts of numerous student clubs and association, hence, student participation is strongly encouraged in these clubs since it supports community projects.

As a top-ranking institution in gender equality and youthful impact, a majority of the student’s club is centred upon these principles, hence, further improving the global ranking of the university.

Students clubs and associations are regulated by the HCS, whose major aim is to improve student’s health and social conditions as well as training them as individuals who take care of their mental and physical health.

It is important to note that being an institution with a huge international presence, the multi-ethnic nature of the university is visible, and the university includes ethnic representation in all the social events and festivities organized. 

Medical Care

As a university focused mostly on sciences, there are various medical centres on campus wherein students can benefit from.

The three campuses of Halic University are all located in the beautiful city of Istanbul. Similarly, all three campuses are located in the European side of Istanbul with the main campus in Sutluce overseeing the Golden Horn. Accommodation Haliç University

On Campus Accomodation at Haliç University

There are no on-campus accommodations for students at Halic University, however, there are numerous dormitories close to the campuses, wherein, student housing needs are provided through the support of the university.

Due to the relationship between these private dormitories and the university, the cost is highly subsidized and student’s security is ensured.

Similarly, the cost of the dormitories depends on the standard of accommodation, however, all rooms are comfortable, secure, and possess basic living amenities. The dorms are built in a room of 2 or 4 and the cost includes all utility bills as well as canteen prices.

Some of these dorms include the Gazi Yuksek Ogrenim Girls dorm, Merter girls student dorm, Anadolu higher learning girls dorm, Nar home, Campus City, Bogazici Boys dorm, and many more.

Generally, each dormitory has a cafe, a canteen, a mini grocery store, and a security post. The rooms also have a refrigerator, a kitchen top and a bathroom for convenience, likewise, there is 24/hours internet connectivity for its residents

Off Campus Accomodation at Haliç University

Some have the luxury of choosing to reside in any part of the city in private apartments or private dormitories according to their budget.

The cost of renting a house in Istanbul is dependent on the area in proximity to the city square, nature of the apartment, number of rooms, and furnished status of the apartment. Commonly, the cost of renting an apartment a month usually starts from $150.

Renting an apartment out of campus usually means that utilities such as electricity, water, heating, cable tv, and internet all come separate from the rent and students would have to pay the utility bill. However, most landlords are concerned about student welfare and may provide students with housing discounts.


Sports at Haliç University

The school of physical education and sports controls sporting activities at Halic University. The university is the first in Turkey to provide the recreation and sports management program to be taught both in academic as well as in a form of physical exercise.

The university boasts of a multi-purpose sporting complex wherein basketball, and volleyball games are conducted with a sitting capacity of more than 1000 persons.

Similarly, indoor sporting activities such as table tennis, indoor swimming pool, and gymnasium are conducted here.

Additionally, the sporting needs of students are met at once upon request, this goes to show the importance placed on sports by the management of the institution.

Also, numerous competitions are organized by the university, wherein exceptional students are finely rewarded. Similarly, students who represent the university, as well as the country in sporting events, are eligible for the sports scholarships which usually cover the total cost of tuition, accommodation, and even stipends.

The student ID card allows student’s who prefer to use private sports centres to do so at highly discounted rates.


Food at Haliç University

It is not strange to find numerous food places in every area of Istanbul. Similarly, there are several restaurants, cafes, and canteens in every faculty and in a designated area on campus that serve meals to students and staff at very affordable rates.

The dormitories on campus have canteens serving quality food to students lodge in these buildings. Similarly, students living in dormitories also have the option of cooking their food whenever they want.

The cost of feeding in Istanbul is generally low and it is estimated that a daily food starting cost could be between $5-$15.



Transportation at Haliç University

The university provides a shuttle transport system for students. The shuttle buses are located at major areas around Istanbul, therefore, enabling free transportation for students.

The shuttle services run from 7 am to 12 midnight. Similarly, being a highly industrialized city, Istanbul boasts of a very comprehensive transportation system with numerous commuter trains, trams, buses, cabs, ferries, small and large ships, and other long-distance trains for inter-state transport. Public transportation around the town is very cheap and very comfortable.

The numerous student dormitories in partnership with the university are of walking distance to campus, hence, students may not need to spend on transportation when going to campus.

Similarly, students in Istanbul qualify for the student transport card which provides them with the opportunity of paying lesser fees for transportation.
