About Universities in Thailand for International Students

Thailand boasts od about 80 government-owned universities that are open to the public and more than 70 private universities. State-funded universities in Thailand are divided into 63 public admission schools, 2 open universities, and 15 self-governing institutions, with the inclusion of 2 religious institutions.

The majority of the universities in Thailand invite several foreign students to apply for admission and have created very conducive schemes to ensure that foreign students are treated with priority. Presently, more than 20,000 foreign students attend university in Thailand in various fields from business, to engineering and law.

Tuition in Thailand:

We have already established that Thailand is one of the cheapest study abroad destinations and this is evident in the fees that students (both local and international) pay for their education. Although the tuition costs can vary from one university to the other and across different courses, typically students pay somewhere around $1,000 to $2,500 per academic year in many Thai institutions.

Private Universities charge for tuition based on the credit unit and the hours, which is usually $75 to $130 per credit hours for bachelor and graduate programs. Bachelor programs normally take 12-15 credit hours per semester and Masters programs require about 10-16 credit hours per semester.
