Embassies and Consulates in for obtaining a Visa

All international students are required by the Government of Tanzania to acquire a Student Visa/Permit Class “C”. In 2018, the Tanzanian government launched its eVisa platform.

Foreign Students can now apply for a study Visa Online by visiting the RocApply Immigration service. You are required to fill in the online form, make a payment, and submit your visa application online. Your form will be internally reviewed and processed.

You can also apply for your visa via the RocApply platform. Our dedicated team will assist students in obtaining Students Visas at the beginning of the academic year/semester.

Applicants will be informed of their success or failure to acquire a visa via email. In some cases, an applicant may be required to visit the nearest Tanzanian Embassy or Consular Office for interviews.

The following documents are the general requirements to apply for a visa. Please ensure that you have the correct documentation to apply for a visa.

General Requirements for Students Visa:

  • Valid Passport copy
  • Covering letter from institution addressed to Immigration Department
  • Scanned Passport size photo
  • Admission letter
  • Evidence of sponsorship/scholarship
  • Duly filled-in Visa online application form
  • Visa fee (250 USD)
  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination

Note: Students from the East African Community Member States are issued with Exemption Certificate. No fee is paid for the Exemption Certificate.

RocApply Tips: Immigration authorities at the port of entry into Tanzania have the right to let in or block entry of any applicant despite being awarded the visa, therefore it is important to ensure that you provide accurate, uncompromised information in your visa application.   • Genuine and valid passport/Travel document
  • Travel document has a free page
  • Application submission is in good time
  • Ensure that information provided and academic documents submitted are genuine;
