Don’t look elsewhere, we have the best review from one of the students who studied in one of the universities here. Be sure to go through it to get a clear picture of the nightlife here;

The nightlife scene here is quite modest and this is largely a result of the religious restrictions placed on Muslim residents who are not permitted to purchase, partake, or have alcohol. Visitors in search of Western-style discotheques will be disappointed. Most of the large hotels have bars where foreigners can have a few drinks and on certain evenings the hotels have live music and dancing.

For the Muslims in Syria, alcohol is totally prohibited, even talking about it is not advised. The nightlife of Syrian families is much surrounded by late-night dining, walking, shopping, or driving. But the truth is that many nightclubs, bars, operate in Syria, having both foreign and local clients.  They do not openly operate, most of them are incognito, underground, and operate at night in darkness. The partygoers are from a generation that tasted the freedom of a foreign college and overseas travel before returning home to Syria.

This is a country with a wide range of night time spots to suit everyone’s taste. It’s possible to dine in a fine restaurant in the capital or relax after a hard day in one of the many coffee shops and then go on to a theatre or watch movies at the local cinemas around the city. Clubs and bars in the country for travelers include recommendations on where to find the best bars and clubs in the Syria capital. If clubbing does not take your fancy then a quiet drink may do. Bars here offer a social drink and a chance to meet new people in the country.
