(Bachelor's, Master's & PhD)

Moving to a new country is no easy feat, especially when you are an international student. For the majority of international students, it might be your first time leaving the nest. We no longer can turn to the comforts of our home and family like we used to, so as RocApply we understand that for many of you, starting a new chapter in a different country can be daunting. However, do not fret! On this guide, we offer some tips to get you through adjusting to your new life as an international student.

Universities offer students with various travel options in South Sudan! Following are some great places in South Sudan that you can explore during your spare time;

Dinka Cattle Camps

The Dinka are the most populous of the country’s tribes and also the most politically influential. The majority of Dinka are still nomadic pastoralists and their cattle camps, which often contain five hundred head or more of cattle, offer fascinating enlightenment into their traditional way of life. You will learn more about the central role that cattle play in deciding wealth and status, the Dinka division of labor, and even their meal tendencies. Students will get the opportunity to explore the Dinka Cattle camps!

The Sudd

South Sudan’s stunning birdlife is best appreciated with a boat trip on the Sudd, one of the biggest and amazing wetlands in the whole world. More than 4 hundred species of bird can be found here, including shoebills, great white pelicans, and black-crowned cranes, and once you have had your fill of all things feathered, there is also some excellent fishing to do.

Mount Kinyeti

This is South Sudan’s highest peak which lies in the little-toured Imatong Mountains along the country’s southern border with Uganda. Whether you plan to climb the peak or trek through the thickly forested foothills, you can see many amazing species such as monkeys, bushbuck, and bush pigs, as well as occasional elephants, buffaloes, and leopards creating an unforgettable experience!

Rafting on the White Nile River

White-water rafting on the Nile is a new addition to the country’s tourist options, and you can enjoy a short splash at Nimule or paddle to Juba. The rapids will make you buzz with adrenaline, especially when you realize how many hippopotamuses and crocodiles are sharing the same pool, and in calmer stretches, there are great possibilities for bird watching and fishing more so.
