Admission into Rwandan secondary schools is complete after all entrance examinations have been taken and on the condition of meeting all the requirements and submission of required documentation. Note however that these requirements vary depending on the school-specific requirements. Below are some of the general requirements.

- Birth Certificate or Passport of the student
- Parent ID card or Passport
- Vaccination Report
- Report card from the previous school
- Brief Reference letter from the previous school (Grade 5 and above)
- application form testimonial from the last school attended
- the child’s last term transcript
- Reference letter from the previous school
- The transfer letter from a previous school
- Transcripts for GCE O/LEVEL / IGCSE results (6th Form application)
- Students Transfer form or School Leaving Certificate from the previous school (6th Form application)
- Proof of scholarship (where available)
- National identity document for students above 16
- a clearance letter from the previous school (if transferring)
- a transfer letter from the previous school (transferring students)
- Proof of Residence in Rwanda
