Tuition and Scholarships at University of the West of Scotland

Compared to other universities in the Island of North Cyprus, the duration of graduate programs is just one year, 3 semesters (trimester) with the first two trimesters attendance obligatory or mandatory whereas the last semester the student devotes it to writing a thesis.

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS programme in North Cyprus) tuition fees are standard for all Masters Programs offered. For the entire duration of the program the tuition fees are £3,500 for Turkish Cypriots, Turkish citizens and EU citizens but a little bit higher for all other international students - £4,500 for the entire program.

Students have the opportunity to pay the tuition fees in intervals meaning at the beginning of each trimester (£1,500 per semester) taking into consideration that the duration of all master programs is 1,5 years. On top of tuition fees students are required to pay Registration fees, £40 Defer fee, and £80 Graduation fee.

Students who achieve impressive academic results have an opportunity to secure scholarships.

The University of the West of Scotland

Origins of the University of the West of Scotland date back to 1897. The University of the West of Scotland is located in the ancient nice city of Lefkosia (Nicosia). Through a collaborative partnership with the Management Centre of the Mediterranean in northern Cyprus its parent institution in the United Kingdom, the University of the West of Scotland - North Cyprus (UWS programme in North Cyprus) recently opened its doors in North Cyprus and started offering master programs.

The tuition fee for UWS programs in North Cyprus is 60% less compared to what they would pay in Scotland. This means students only have to pay £4,500 for the entire masters program (£1500 per semester).

About Lefkosia/Nicosia

The oldest and yet biggest city in North Cyprus, its home to about 100 000 people of which a substantial percentage of them are students both local and international. Lefkosa is culturally rich and full of life.It hosts a number of art and music festivals on a regular basis. Sports arenas or facilities are easily accessible and it's frequent that students get together and play team sports. The city also has the country´s biggest flea market where people can buy traditional food, clothes, accessories, art, and more at very affordable prices.The market is situated on the border between North and South Cyprus.

The city is pretty much resourceful with money exchange shops, designer shops, banks, hospitals, MoneyGram, western union, travel agents and more.The are plenty of traditional Turkish restaurants in the city as well as Kebab places which usually charge around 2 euros for a Durum or Kebab. The cinemas usually charge less for students provided they bring their student cards. From the city of Lefkosia, you can travel to anywhere around Cyprus since the transport network revolves around the city. In terms of touristic activities, there are a number of ancient buildings which commands a respectable amount of history and interest. The city has multiple hotels, hostels and betting houses, casinos where tourists usually spend a substantial amount of their time.
