Step 1: Finding the right program
In the recent couple of years, Northern Cyprus has risen as a conducive destination for international students. This can be attributed to a large number of factors but key among them are the peaceful and welcoming environment, world accredited quality education and amazingly affordable tuition fees just to mention a few.
A List of universities in North Cyprus can be found here.
North Cyprus Universities usually grant a 50% scholarship for international students. Those scholarships are already included in the platform.
Step 2: Application to Universities
After going through the various choices of university options, the next step is to find and choose your program of study. This process is very easy, absolutely free and will take no more than 5 mins to complete. All you have to do is navigate to your program of choice, click “Apply now”, enter your data and upload your documents and the RocApply Team will take care of it. You will immediately get a confirmation that your application was received and a link to your “My Applications Page”, where you can track your application status. Our support team will notify you
immediately as soon as your application was received by the university and will update you about each status change of your application.
You can always track your current application on the "My Applications" Page.

Step 3: Receiving the Conditional Acceptance Letter
Once a student is successfully accepted by the University, a two-step acceptance process begins. To acknowledge admission, the University will issue a Conditional/Provisional Acceptance letter for you which you will receive via email. The admission letter will have the students name, date of birth, semester of admission and granted course of study.
The Conditional Acceptance Letter will also state the required amount the student will have to pay to obtain the Unconditional Acceptance
letter (Step 4) as well as the banking details to which the money should be deposited into.
This fee is known as a deposit and will contribute towards that respective semester's tuition. In most instances, the expected down payment is €1000.
Please note that although RocApply will assist students in facilitating this, the payment will be directly between the student
and the respective University.
Step 4: Receiving the unconditional Acceptance Letter
The final step of the two-step acceptance process is when the student is granted the Un-Conditional Acceptance letter.
This letter is only served by the University once they have received and confirmed confirmation of payment of the deposit by the student.
When one is granted the Unconditional acceptance letter, the only obstacle between you getting to study in North Cyprus is obtaining a Visa, which you are very likely to receive with your unconditional acceptance letter.
Step 5: Obtaining Visa
Once you receive the unconditional acceptance letter, you will then use this along with your other official documents to book your visa interview with your respective embassy. Rocapply will guide you through the process of obtaining the Visa and receiving the Visa appointment. More Visa Information.
Step 6: Accommodation
Once the visa and travel dates have been secured, the next item to clear is accommodation. Rocapply provides you with options for both
and off-campus accommodation, which you can book on the platform. Upon arrival, universities do provide temporary guest house(1-3 days)
accommodation for new students while they are sorting out their permanent accommodation residence.
Step 7: Flights
Being a relatively small island, not many airlines directly travel to Northern Cyprus. The man airline is Turkish Airlines, with others such as Atlas Global and Pegasus as auxiliary partners. To book your flights we recommend using our search mask to find a flight to Ercan International Airport (ECN):
Please note that if you require a Visa you will need to book a return flight. We are happy to assist you with any questions regarding this issue.
North Cyprus has direct flights from Turkey and usually only through Turkish airlines.
Please note that flying to South Cyprus (and therefore the European Union) requires you to obtain Visa. You are very likely to be rejected entrance when flying to South Cyprus instead of North Cyprus!
Step 8: Get connected
The journey of getting to Cyprus and starting can be a very exciting time which is why we will if you choose to connect you to fellow students from your country that are going to study in the same semester. This way you will already know fellow students on the island when arriving in Cyprus.
Step 9: Arriving in North Cyprus
Soon after landing, students will be expected to conduct their check in with the immigration office at the airport. This process usually doesn't take more than 20 mins and students are expected to have all their traveling and admissions documents on them to complete this.
Once cleared, students will be met by the respective University welcome teams who will be wearing University regalia and holding up posters for ease of identification to new students. Thereafter, students will be assisted with travel arrangements to the University.
Step 10: First Week in North Cyprus
The first week in Northern Cyprus or in any new place generally could be a bit daunting.
During this week the main issues to be resolved are:
1.Student course registration.
Students will be expected to submit all their original educational certificates, 6 passport photocopies, photocopies of one's passport and complete the academic registration consent form.
2. Student accommodation registration.
Students will be expected to complete their accommodation registration with the respective department. This can only be done once the student is registered by the admissions department. When completing this one will be expected to complete an accommodation contract given by the University as well as submit 3 passport copy photos. Student orientation day may also be lined for the first week, however, all new students will be informed upon arrival. During orientation, a few activities may be lined up such as:
- Historical tour of Northern Cyprus.
- A brief introduction to the University. (Mission, Vision, Values)
- A welcoming ceremony for all new students, where students get to meet and interact, attesting to the multi-cultural environment of life on the island.
Meanwhile, students may also get a feel of various aspects of the island life and culture such as different foods and beverages, learning a few words in the local language to get by as well as understanding how the local currency works in relation to more common currencies.
