Transport

there are several methods of transportation available in Nicaragua, both collective and individual options. These include urban and interurban buses, taxies, motor taxies, and taxi bikes

Car Renting- enables travelers to travel at their own pace. there are various car hire options including Avis, Alamo, Dollar Car rental, and Enterprise car rental.

Buses- These are large, yellow former school buses. in Managua, the urban bus network is quite extensive. The buses can be recognized by a number that is often painted on the bus, which indicates the route the bus is taking. In other cities, buses use tags to state their destinations.

Bus stops provide information boards telling you which number you can get and where it goes. The express bus service only stops at larger stations or some recognized points on the road. Ruteado buses however stop at every single corner where a potential passenger can be found.

Trucks- In many cities informal roofed pickup trucks called rutas are another alternative public transportation option.

Taxis- Almost all taxis in Nicaragua are part of taxi associations. Managua taxis are unmetered. Most city taxis have fixed fares, usually around US$0.50 to US$0.70 but they increase at night. Taxi hire between cities is a comfortable and reasonable option for mid-range travelers with prices of around US$10 for every 20km

Tuk-tuks- these are three-wheel motorized bikes that are also available in Nicaragua, and are relatively cheap.

Tricycles/ bicycle rickshaws- are a very cheap option, only costing US$1-2 per person to go anywhere in town.
