HAS university was founded in 1948 as a specialized, independent university of agriculture and agriculture allied programs. The major specialization of the university includes agriculture, food, environment, nature, and horticulture.
The university has its campuses in North Barbrant and Venlo. All the programs offered here are accredited by the Dutch Fleming education board. The university has won numerous awards including the prestigious Keuzegdis Awards as one of the best schools of applied sciences.

Erasmus:

Although they are no on-campus dormitories for students, the university maintains close contacts with student homeowners and other housing agencies to provide affordable accommodation for students.
The international student department is in charge of dorm allocation to students. The range of available accommodation varies greatly, but all satisfy specific standards and are located within a short distance from the different campuses.
At the Brabant campus, the university makes a reservation on behalf of students at the student hotel. A standard room for a student hotel starts from €500. The monthly rent covers all the utility bills, internet, security, a gym, and a gaming area.
The Venlo campus makes accommodation reservations on behalf of students with their partner agencies. Student dorms in Venlo are starting from €360 monthly. Utility bills are included in these prices and the room contains all the necessary furnishing, equipment, and appliance.
Some students choose to reside in private houses and apartments according to their budget. Students can choose from several housing options and the university often assists them in arranging these accommodations with the landlords.
The expense of leasing off-campus apartments changes from area to area in proximity to the city square and they have different conditions for rent. Commonly, the cost of renting an apartment a month usually starts from €500.
Renting an apartment out of campus usually means that utilities such as electricity, water, heating, cable tv, and internet all come separate from the rent and students would have to pay the utility bill. However, the cost of living in Brabant and Venlo is relatively low compared to other parts of the Netherlands, hence, most students make this university their first option.
Although the university does not have any sports department or on-campus sports area, HAS university has collaborated with the Sportiom Sports Center to offer at discounted prices, services to their students.
As a student of HAS university, you are eligible for a discount to use all of Sportiom’s training services and facilities. Some of the sporting activities offered include football, general body fitness, basketball, swimming, and many others. Sportiom is a trusted company in the Netherlands, therefore, the facilities at the sporting center are standard and safe to use by students.
There are several restaurants and canteens on campus providing fresh meals to students and staff at very affordable rates, these food center only serve hot meals between 17:00 to 18:30. The student dormitories equally have food centers where students can buy food at a highly subsidized rate: students living in student dormitories can eat from the cafes and restaurants in these buildings and can also cook their food.
For students living in private accommodation, the cost of feeding the Southern Netherlands is relatively cheaper compared to the capital city and other famous cities, hence, students can buy the fresh ingredients from the market and make their food. Bearing in mind the diverse nature of the location, students can easily choose from a wide range of food items that they are familiar with.
North Brabant has a sophisticated transport system comprising of trains, trams, buses, metro and other transport systems around the town to the university, it is very cheap and very comfortable. Student dormitories are usually around 5 minutes' walk to the campus, thus, reducing the cost of transportation.
The student transport card is on a fixed 40% discount. Thus, a student pays almost half of the price while using public transport services. It is advised for new students to get the Ovikaart upon arrival to enable them to use the public transport system.
