The Cost of living in Namibia is 46.94% lower than in the United States of America. Rent in Namibia is, on average, 68.50% lower than in the United States of America.

Accommodation

A 1 bedroom apartment in the City Centre costs N$6,097.63 and a 1 room apartment Outside of the city N$Centre would cost about N$4,520.96. There are several accommodation options for students to consider in Namibia. Students may choose from living on campus, renting an apartment, or shared flats and studios.

Some of the accommodation options include The Rez @Academia, Tate Village, Apartments at Pionierspark, Richter Studio Apartments, and Hostels. These are more costly than living on campus.

The amenities offered like fully furnished rooms, wifi, kitchens, and other facilities make these more costly. Students can choose shared apartments that are cheaper and will help students to cut their costs on accommodation.

Shopping and Groceries

Namibia offers several os shops and malls to choose from. Popular and affordable shops like Woolworths, Musica, The Crazy Store, and Tekkie Town. You also get to enjoy your favorite meals at Col'Cacchio, News Cafe, KFC, Shoprite, Pep Home, OK Furniture, Clicks, Legit, Beaver Canoe, Ocean Basket, and Rocomamas are all available to choose from.

A simple grocery basket containing rice, bread, milk, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, beef, eggs, drinks, and cooking oil cost about N$224 but students should be prepared to spend close to n$1000 or more per month on groceries.

Transport

Taxis and coaches are the most widely used in Namibia. Students can use Taxis for shorter distances and then use coaches for longer distances. Taxis cost about N$11.82 for 1km Normal Tariff and N$300 for a monthly pass. For students, some Universities like the International University of Management provides transport for its students to and from campus and to their areas of the accommodation.

Credit Cards- MasterCards and Visa cards are accepted throughout Namibia. These International cards are widely accepted throughout the country, including most Government rest camps, hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Bills and Utilities: Basic utilities like water, electricity, heating, and gas cost at about N$1701.33 per month while voice calls 1 min. of Prepaid Mobile Tariff Local cost N$1.32 per minute.
