The University of Yangon

It is a university founded in 1920, and is the earliest university in Myanmar. The university has twenty departments from Anthropology to Zoology. the University covers major subjects in arts and sciences and Law. Research is becoming increasingly focused on applying academic disciplines to the challenges facing development in the country.

The URC is staffed by specially trained technicians and professional scientists in physics, chemistry, geology, botany and zoology, to name but a few. The laboratory facilities are managed by a team of scientists and technicians assigned to the Center from the University of Yangon.

Yangon Technological University (YTU)

It is the premier engineering university of Myanmar, established as Department of Engineering under Rangoon University in 1924. It is the country's oldest and largest engineering university, and the best engineering university in Myanmar. The university offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in engineering disciplines to nearly 8000 students.

• Programs- the University maintains 18 academic departments which are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronic Engineering,Telecommunications engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology, Mechatronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering,Food engineering, Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Science and Metallurgy Engineering, Biotechnology, Architecture, Engineering Geology, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics, and Languages.

• Engineering- The university offers six-year B.E. and B.Arch. programs and two-year M.E. and M.Arch. programs. Ph.D. programs usually last between three and five years. Students are accepted to YTU's undergraduate programs based on their scores from the annual university entrance examinations. Mandalay University

This is a public liberal arts and science university located in Mandalay, which is a former an affiliate of Rangoon University. It is the second oldest university in Myanmar, and the oldest and largest university in Upper Myanmar. The university offers Bachelor's, Master's, Post-graduate Diploma, and Doctorate degrees in liberal arts, sciences and law.

The main function of Myanmar Maritime University inaugurated by Ministry of Transport is to develop human resources by producing qualified Naval Architects, Ocean Engineers, Marine Engineers, Marine Electrical Systems and Electronic Engineers, Port and Habour Engineers, River and Coastal Engineers, Marine Mechanical Engineers and Navigation Officers, to mention but a few.

• Programs-The Degrees offered at Myanmar Maritime University are: Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Port and Harbor Engineering, River and Coastal Engineering, Marine Electrical Systems and Electronics, Marine Mechanical Engineering, Nautical Science which last up to 5 years of study, and Postgraduate Diploma in Shipping Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Port Management, Port and Harbor Engineering, River and Coastal Engineering, Naval Architecture taking about 2 years and Transport and Logistic Management for only a year.

The Yangon University of Education

It is the premier university of education in Myanmar. It is a teacher training college offering bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in education to the country's prospective primary, secondary and tertiary school teachers. Its training school, known as TTC is considered one of the best high schools in Myanmar.
