Shopping in Montnegro

Find Programs
(Bachelor's, Master's & PhD)

Let's be honest! Studying abroad comes in handy with a good shopping culture! Everyone wants to get time to explore markets and pick a few goodies to add to the cart list! Shopaholics welcome to Montenegro, the land of beauty and charming crafts!

This is where your shopping impulse is put to the test. With numerous shopping malls, stalls, shops, and supermarkets Montenegro will certainly take thy breath away!

Shopping in Montenegro is a unique experience than many other sun, sea, and sand places. You’ll find a refreshingly ambivalent attitude to rampant global consumerism, especially in the local open-air stalls where Montenegrins do their normal shopping.

The stalls set up at sunrise and are open until early afternoon, with displays of everything from inexpensive clothing, footwear, and accessories to local olive oils, olives, and other natural items such as cured ham and fruit a delight to see and buy.

The Old Town districts in Budva and Kotor are the places for upscale and everyday boutiques giving native and internationally known designer brands side–by–side with their counterfeits.

Podgorica shoppers have their own mall, Delta City, crammed with local entrepreneurs as well as Mike, Zara, Marks and Spencer and other entrepreneurial giants. It’s the best concept, but can’t match the charm or the rates in the country’s open-air markets and each town hosts its own specialties.

Great souvenirs in the country include beautifully hand-crafted silver and gold filigree jewelry, hand-carved wood images and home decor crafts, and leather products like shoes and purses. Traditional art includes embroidery, metalwork, lace-making, crochet, and traditional musical items.

The late 20th and early 21st century upheavals ended in many craftsmen leaving for safer havens, with efforts now being put to place to entice ethnic artists back home. Several small galleries in the capital and resorts provide a good choice of paintings and sculptures.

Be sure to haggle in any market set-up. This is standard as prices are marked up to allow for negotiations and the vendors expect you to haggle. If you are looking to buy genuine souvenirs, be aware that most souvenirs are counterfeit.

The real thing is available from licensed sellers, but those sold at market stalls are fake despite how sincere the vendor may merchandise. Albeit, we are here to assist you with the best application platform across the globe with our user-friendly interface at “one-stop.”
