Applicants have to satisfy certain minimum requirements to be considered for admission to Malawian Universities. There are limited places available at the universities and hence a selection procedure must be followed
Note: applying to the University having met the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the University, the Admissions Boards will make the final decision.
General requirements for admission into Malawian universities:
Bachelor /Undergraduate Programs:
- O’ Level certificates
- A' Level certificates
- Passport-sized photos
- Motivation letter
- A duly filled and signed visa application formalities
- A passport with a minimum one-year validity
- A medical certificate
- Proof of general English proficiency requirements
Masters Programs:
- Admission to a Master’s degree program requires an accredited Bachelor's degree or international equivalent. Related professional qualifications at the appropriate level will also be considered for entry.
- Students with an accredited Master’s degree will also be considered for entry.
- Recognized proof of English proficiency
- A Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (minimum 500 words)
- Current CV
- One official letter of recommendation (either academic or professional)
- Transcripts
- Passport
- Passport size photos
- Health Insurance
- Release letter from previous University (for transfer students)
Ph.D. Programs:
- An accredited Master’s degree in a relevant subject area. Students may be considered for doctorate study if their degree is in an unrelated field provided, they have relevant professional experience and can prove their ability to work at the doctorate level.
- Official Master’s degree transcripts
- Recognized proof of English proficiency
- Personal Statement of Statement of Purpose (minimum 500 words)
- Current CV
- Two official letters of recommendation (either academic or professional)
- Research proposal or project outline
- Evidence of the ability to undertake independent research
- Master's degree certificate
- Bachelor's degree certificate
- Passport
- Passport photos
- Release letter from previous University (for transfer students)
- Fees required or proof of scholarship.
