Food
Food in Macau can be generally cheap depending on your choice of restaurant, and the groceries are also quite affordable. Most students prefer to put their money together and buy groceries as a group, making it even cheaper.
Accommodation
A 1 bedroom Apartment in City Centre in Macau costs about PCA10 555.56, and an Apartment (1 bedroom) Outside of the city centre costs PCA 7923.08. Several rental accommodations in Macau come fully furnished with beds, couch, television, TV stand, dining tables and chairs, coffee table, wardrobe and washing machine.
Transport
Transport costs in Macau are generally cheap. Macau is a small country, so it's best to take public transport. The prices for local transportation are as follows: One Litre of gasoline costs PCA 47.13, One-way ticket for a local transport costs about PCA 6.00 and a Regular monthly pass costs about PCA 280. Macau is well served by both public and private transportation services.
Rental Cars- there are several car hire options available in Macau including Avis, Vang lek Rent a car service, Macau car rental, hertz car rental,to mention but a few.
Urban Buses- Macau has two main bus companies which charge a flat fare of MOP3.20 for a journey within the Macau peninsula. Always make sure you carry coins to put in the coin box as you enter. A ride from the Macau peninsula to Taipa costs about MOP4.20.
Pedicabs – this are manpowered bike taxi which is a great way to view the city. This is for tourists who are not in a rush and want to view the city and enjoy the scenery
Taxis- taxis in Macau are metered, taxi fare is MOP 17 for the first 1500 metres then there is an MOP 1 charge for each additional 180 metres. Luggage is charged 3 MOP. If the traveler wants the taxi to wait while the metre is running, then they charge an extra of MOP 1.
Bills and Utilities:
The prices of Utilities have risen in recent years. Utility prices in Macau are as follows: Basic utilities (Water, heating, garbage and electricity) costs PCM 816.42, Cable/DSL internet connection (unlimited data and speed of 6Mbps) costs PCM 206.60, and Local one-minute prepaid calls costs PCM 0.70.
