Student Life in Laos

Find Programs
(Bachelor's, Master's & PhD)

From the classroom to the sports field, and from the theatre, to class, to social life around campus or the country as a whole, students use wit, inquiry, critical thinking skills and risk-taking, and fitness to deepen their understanding of the country and new environment.

Most universities in Laos are committed to challenging, inspiring, and empowering students and preparing them for both days to day life in Laos and life after university in their respective countries.

They offer a range of academic and co-curricular activities for students including sports, cultural and academic exchanges, and leadership summits to mention but a few.

Universities actively engage and encourage students to reach out into the Lao community through a wide variety of activities and projects including fundraising and sporting activities.

  • Exchange programs- language, cultural, and academic exchanges are very crucial for students. They get to witness how other students are faring in other environments and also get to learn from them or impart to them as well.
  • Volunteerism- volunteerism gives students a sense of leadership and a sense of charity. They can use their skill that they will have acquired to help others in need of services. There are several non-governmental charity organizations that students can partner with and make a difference within society.
  • Sport- sport is the best way for students to express themselves both physically and mentally. It is a chance for students to showcase how talented they are and the contribution they can make to make their relevant teams win. A winning mentality is good for students.
  • Cultural & Arts Teams-students can join various groups on campus including folk performing arts groups, theatre arts groups, debate groups, Teambuilding groups, contemporary Music groups, Musical choir, and Public Speaking Teams.
  • Site seeing- there is plenty of history and culture to see in Laos and international students can take some time out to witness this beautiful side of Laos. The university can arrange excursions and outings for students to get to know the various sites in the country.
  • Social Clubs/ fraternities- social clubs at university gives student s a sense of belonging, which is very crucial to the mental development of the students. Belonging enables them to make meaningful contributions.
