Eligibility Requirements for Local Applicants

This is the list of documents to be submitted to the selection committee by citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic:

  • National Testing Certificate (ORT);
  • Application for admission on university letterhead;
  • Document on secondary general or secondary vocational education, higher complete education (certificate or diploma);
  • Higher education document (for second higher education);
  • 6 photographs 3x4;
  • Identity document (passport, driver's license);
  • Certificate of registration or military ID.

Bishkek State University is named after academician K.Karasaeva - this is one of the most prestigious universities in the country, a recognized leader in higher education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic with its significant position not only in the national intellectual space but also in the international sphere.

The university is a member of many reputable international associations, such as the Eurasian Association of Universities, the SCO Humanitarian Universities Consortium, the Union of Universities of Turkic-speaking Countries, as well as the Association of Universities of Kyrgyzstan; Likewise, BSU cooperates with more than 70 leading universities in the world, as part of the annual internship (Germany, Russia, USA, China, Turkey, Japan, Great Britain, and others)

Interestingly, education at the university is conducted in more than 50 educational programs of secondary and higher vocational education in 16 world languages (Kyrgyz, Russian, English, German, French, Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Italian, Polish and other).

The university is public-owned and therefore subsidized for both local and international students. Students can expect to pay between $800 to $1,000 per academic year depending on their program and level of study. The tuition fee varies and changes under the university’s discretion, do kindly check with us for the precise amount that is required of you to pay in your preferred program.

About Bishkek Humanities University

History

On May 29, 1979, the Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature (PIRYAL) was founded by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 488.

The Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature (PIRYAL) was abolished by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated June 17, 1992, No. UP-201 "On the establishment of the State Institute of Languages and Humanities (GINiGN)" and on its basis, the State Institute of Languages and Humanities was established. Order of the Ministry of Public Education of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 208 / 1a dated June 17, 1992 "On the implementation of the Decree of the President of the   Kyrgyz Republic dated June 17, 1992, No. UP-201".

The State Institute of Languages and Humanities (GINGN) was reorganized by the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 308 of 05/11/1994 "On the transformation of the State Institute of Languages and Humanities into the Bishkek Humanitarian University."

Bishkek Humanitarian University (BSU) was named after Academician Kusein Karasayev by the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 476 dated June 29, 2004 “On assigning the name of Academician K. Karasaev to Bishkek Humanitarian University.

By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 842/1 dated July 10, 2019, the name of the Bishkek Humanitarian University named after Academician Kusein Karasayev was changed to "Bishkek State University named after Academician Kusein Karasayev"

BSU Today

Currently, Bishkek State University is named after academician Kusein Karasayev and is a leader of liberal arts education and science in Kyrgyzstan. The university stands as one of the most prestigious and elite universities in the country and is participating member of the Eurasian Association of Universities, the SCO Humanitarian Universities Consortium, and many others.

The university is famously heralded as being "a window" or “a bridge" between Kyrgyzstan and the global educational space. It is also a melting pot and harmony of languages and cultures of the countries of East and West. A beacon of academic excellence, BSU is one of the training centers for the future intellectual and political elite of Kyrgyzstan.

The university holds a huge range of international relations across borders and cooperates with 70 leading universities in America, Europe, and Asia. This institution is the main training center for Sinologists, Japanese scholars, Iranianists, Arabists, Korean scholars, etc. A global university where more than 50 foreign professors teach Western European and Eastern languages. Annually more than 500 students undergo training, practice, and internships at leading universities in the world (Soka, Japan), Moscow State University (Russia), Pittsburgh (USA), Guangzhou (China), Seoul (Korea), etc.

The university campus is a harmonious combination of the best traditions of national education with the advanced trends of the international educational process. Training is conducted in about 16 languages of the world (English, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean), etc.

BSU is poised to teach world languages in the context of history, economy, socio-political system, and culture of the countries of the East and West. They also employ field expertise type of training by teaching many of their subjects by native speakers, employees of embassies, business structures (guest lectures, master classes) much to the benefit of students.

Academic Mobility

BSU cooperates with universities of the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Japan, mainly on the student exchange program. Every year, the best students are sent for language internships at the leading universities of these countries, for a period of 6 months to 2 years on a budgetary and contractual basis. Over the past 2 years, over 250 students have completed language training abroad.

The University actively participates in the implementation of the International Academic Mobility Programs for the preparation of undergraduates and postgraduates.

Internship Opportunities

Study and internship abroad are interesting avenues provided at BSU to expose its students to international teachers, exciting classes, and unforgettable communication with peers from other countries, and a wonderful opportunity to enrich their horizons. These programs are an effective way to improve the level of knowledge of a foreign language is to communicate with native speakers, "immersion" in the environment of the target language. Scientific Library

The scientific library is the center of information that supports the educational process and scientific research of the university. 

The Scientific Library of the BSU conducts training on working with the electronic resources of the National Library of the BSU (information retrieval system of the National Library of the BSU, an electronic catalog, a consolidated catalog, a full-text database, etc.).

Along with the traditional forms of library and information work in the form of issuing books, magazines, newspapers in reading rooms and on subscriptions, service in the OSIO hall, modern information technologies are widely used.

The unified library fund consists of various types of domestic and foreign publications (scientific, educational, fiction, etc.), audiovisual and electronic documents. The scientific library is a member of the project on the corporate network of the unified Consolidated Electronic Catalog of Scientific Libraries of the Kyrgyz Republic, where there is information (bibliography) on the composition of the collections of scientific libraries of the Kyrgyz Republic (books, articles from newspapers and magazines).
