To study in Kenya you need to have a visa. Students need to apply for a student permit once they are admitted into a university course.

Study permit applications can happen at the Kenyan embassy in your respective country of residence or online and they are usually hassle-free considering that Kenya is a tourist destination.
Except for a few countries, Kenya grants a visa on arrival when you are visiting for less than 90 days. However, for anything more than those 90 days visitors are expected to apply for a resident visa.

- Application form (Form 30) duly filled, signed, and stamped by the institution.
- Cover Letter from school stating the Course to be pursued as well as the duration addressed to:

- A valid copy of National Passport (the bio-data page and Current Immigration Status for the student).
- Two colored passport size photos of the applicant.
- Commitment letter from parent/guardian/sponsor
- Copy of Registration certificate of the institution enrolling the student from the Ministry of Higher education
- Copy of CV for research students
- Police clearance certificate
- Copies of academic qualifications
- Proof of funds
Fees for the Student Permit
One Year – Ksh.5,000
Two Years – Ksh.10,000
If you fail to submit all the documents in time, the embassy will ask you to book another date for your appointment, therefore to avoid delays please submit all the documents in full.
As the Visa process for international students can take up to 3 months, depending on the country, we strongly encourage you to calculate enough time for it.
