The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton was established in 1979 as an affiliate of Andrews University, Michigan State, United States of America, until 1991, when it became the first University to be chartered by the government of the Republic of Kenya. Ever since, over 5000 students from all parts of the world have successfully graduated in various disciplines and now hold reputable positions both in the public and corporate sectors. Being a Seventh-day Adventist Church owned institution, UEAB subscribes to the Seventh-day Adventist Church belief in wholistic education that develops the mental, physical and spiritual spheres of the student in readiness for effective service to God and humanity. Eldoret is currently he fifth largest city in Kenya and fastest growing town. It is a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The town is colloquially known as 'Sisibo'. As per the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, Eldoret is the fifth most populated urban area in the country after Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru and Ruiru.
