Sice shopping is a crucial part of your time as a foreign student in the country, we have put together a list of shopping areas that you can go to for all your shopping needs, from food items to groceries, electrical appliances, and even clothes.

Umeda in Osaka:

This shopping district in the heart of the beautiful Osaka has all the big brand names and clothing stores that you already know.

It also houses many Japanese made clothing items, we encourage that you visit the area and satisfy all your cloth shopping needs as the price range here is extremely affordable.

Shinjuku in Tokyo:

This is the most active area in the city of Tokyo with very large shopping malls and smaller shopping stores that sell a great range of items.

Shopping for electrical appliances would be very fantastic here as the prices offered are incredibly subsidized and the option s available are limitless.


Minato Mirai in Yokohama:

This area has a very calm and reserved ambiance, however many of the best selling shops, stores and markets are decked around every street corner of the area. This shopping area is excellent for those who love to shop locally or locally made groceries.

Shibuya in Tokyo:

If you reside in Tokyo then great chances are that you shop in this area. 

This area has historically been known for its youthful edge, the vibrant shopping district houses some of the best places for student shopping, all the necessities such as packaged food items, discount clothing, discount electronics, local branded home furnishings, and many other items.

Supermarkets in Japan

The supermarkets in Japan are very accessible and carry a broad range of food and groceries. Japanese products are essentially need-satisfying such that there is literally an item for every quirk, feeding habits or cooking styles that you desire.

The largest supermarket chains that are everywhere across Japan include Life, Izumi, Seijo Ishii, Aeon, Seven and I, Fresco, Fresta, Gourmet City, Yours, and Maruetsu.

These supermarkets sell both name brands and local content much to the satisfaction of Japanese shoppers around the country.
