Student Life in Italy
Studying in Italy is way different than other parts of the world, there is a sense of independent learning and practice, on paper the system that most educators in Italy employ sounds quite easy but this is far from the truth.
Independent learning is also very difficult, students must broaden their scope of research and put more work in their academics.
Italian university teaching system has students in one space with classic lecture hours but exams are done orally at the end of a semester and make up for the student's total grade.
Some courses have students put in nuclear groups where they have a lecturer and an assistant that monitors and details their activities.
Students in STEM, are taught under more strict conditions and have term projects and are molded towards research. STEM students have different activities that are very controlled and organized.
Because there are only lectures for the most part and then exams at the end, students might have some free time on their hands and can use this time to learn with textbooks suggested by the department.
Student life is not all work and no play, Italy is a very beautiful country to live in, many universities have field trips for their students. These adventure trips showcase the many histories, architecture, and wonders of Italy. Traveling and food are major components of typical student life in Italy.
Another great component of being a student in Italy is the chance to learn a new language and culture. Since sports is a very huge component of the Italian people, students quickly adapt to the exciting atmosphere and all its interesting quirks. Football culture has also come to be loved by many foreign students in the country.
Funny but also exciting is that students also fall in love with the foods of Italy, staples like pasta, pizza, and the famous Gelato; which is what Italians call ice cream.
