The long and short term academic programs are available in Iraq across many universities and educational centers. International students and researchers may apply to BA, MA, Ph.D., and postdoctoral research programs in Iraq.
Furthermore, summer schools and conferences are other excellent academic activities that make Iraq an attractive destination for scholars and researchers.
Most of the programs also come with fully-funded scholarships and fellowships as well as travel grants and financial aid, thus international students, researchers, and professors can apply.
Cost of Education in Iraq
Fees differ between universities in Iraq, with the prevalence of international branch campuses and private institutions bringing the overall average up. In general however, studying in here is cheaper than many countries, with average tuition fees currently standing at approximately USD 5000 per year.
Although the prices of programs at Iraq’s international branch campuses tend to be higher, they are still much cheaper than their international counterparts, while offering the same prestige.
Scholarships
Iraq has signed agreements with other countries in order that the Ministry of Education and Science may implement scholarships to provide financial assistance to international students. When determining the allocation of scholarships, preference will be given to Iraqi foreign students pursuing degree programs in Iraqi studies, pedagogy and art.
International scholarships, and grants are offered to students outside and inside the country where the university is located. These are also called as financial aid and many times the financial aid office of the Government of Iraq handles. Government of Iraq scholarships are offered by the Government of Iraq to pursue a study abroad or research in the country.
There are various Government of Iraq scholarships, internships for diaspora students. Apart from the university-based scholarships, there are many other organizations including foundations, trusts, corporates that offer scholarships for international students. When considering candidates:
- Priority is mostly given to applicants of particular merit taking into account academic ability, need, and development impact, leadership potential, and personal qualities.
- Preference is given to subjects that offer a high probability of future employment in the countries that we select candidates from and are of direct value to development.
