Guinea is quite an interesting country to study in. It is a great study abroad destination, with the Government making headway in improving its higher education system over the years. There are several higher education institutions around Guinea.

University for Community Development

This is a private university that was founded in 2004 and is officially recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific research (Ministere de l'Enseignment Superieur et de la Recherche Scientifique).

It is located in Nzerekore. It offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate Degrees in different areas of study. It has 8 faculties or divisions namely:

Tuition fees per annum costs between GNF 2000 000 and GNF 2500 000 or US$208 to US$260.

Thierno Marka Barry University

It is another private university in Guinea that was founded in 2007 and is officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The institution offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in various areas of study. The various divisions and fields of study are as follows:

 

Kofi Annan University of Guinea

This is a private co-educational university located in Conakry. It offers bachelor’s degrees. It was founded I 1999 and is duly accredited with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It has 8 departments or faculties namely:

Julius Nyerere University of Kankan

This is a public co-educational university located in Kankan. It was founded in 1963 as a school then it was changed to a polytechnic institute and finally changed into a university in 1989. It is duly accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The institution offers programs leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in various areas. It is divided into 7 departments or faculties:

The academic year at the institute runs from October to June in three phases, from October to December, January to March, and from April to June. General requirements include a secondary school certificate and one also has to undertake an entrance examination before admission.

Higher Institute for Distance Learning

It is a public institution that was founded in 2004 and is officially accredited and recognized by the ministry of higher education and scientific research. It offers bachelor’s degrees in several programs. It is divided into three departments or faculties namely;

It is a co-educational facility and the general requirements are a school leaving certificate ad an entrance exam. Tuition fees range from GNF 300 000 to GNF 400 000 or US$31 to US$42.
