University Amilcar Cabral- this is the only public university in Guinea Bissau which was established in 1999 and located in Bissau. The university consist of the faculty of Law, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, the National School of Administration, and the Higher School of Education. 

The institution offers degree courses in law, education, medicine, engineering, veterinary medicine, agronomy, economics, modern languages, sociology, and journalism. On average, students have to study for three years. Law students have to study for 5 years and medical students have to study for 7 years including internship. 

University of Colinas de Boe- it is another private university founded in 2003. It is located in Bissau and offers opportunities for students to attain degrees of their choosing. The university also acts a school for Nursing, teacher training, and vocational training.

Universidade Lusofona- is a private University in Guinea Bissau that is administered by the Grupo Lusofona of Portugal. The University offers a wide range of programs including arts and design, communication studies, economics, management, accounting, business management, education, to mention but a few.

Universidade Jean Piaget- this a private institution established in 2010. Its main campus is located in Bissau. It is one of the best institutions in Guinea Bissau. It is officially registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education. It offers bachelor’s degrees or equivalent in different areas. There are four main divisions including:

Economics and Business- fields of study include administration, economics, management, and public administration.

Health Sciences Department-health sciences, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy.

Political Science of Education- education, educational sciences, international relations, and law.

Sciences and technologies-architecture, business computing, civil engineering, computer engineering, geology, and mining engineering.

 

Catholic university of Guinea Bissau- is also a private institution located in Bissau offering programs leading to internationally recognised degrees. It is administered and run by the Roman Catholic Church.
