Francisco Marroquin University

Is a private university located in Guatemala City. The university had about 2700 undergraduate students and 1500 graduate students as of 2009.

Degree Programs offered

Undergraduate: Licentiate- in most Latin American countries, the licenciatura degree or licentiate is the most commonly awarded for undergraduate students.

Disciplines- architecture, business administration, clinical nutrition, economics, education, international relations, law, political studies, public accounting and auditing, psychology, both clinical and industrial

Doctor of Medicine/Doctor of Dental Surgery- Students are admitted directly into medical and dental schools as high-school graduates, followed by a three-year program of basic science studies after which students receive a Bachelor of Science degree. It is then followed by four years of medical or three of dental studies and one year of internship for medical students. The, graduates receive a doctor of medicine or doctor of dental surgery degree.

Associate degree- disciplines include art history and personnel administration.

Profesorado degree: this is a specialized degree for secondary school teachers. In most cases, it is required for employment and disciplines include art history, computer studies, social sciences and language.

Graduate- Master's degree disciplines include business administration, virtual business administration, real estate project management, entrepreneurial economics, international political economy, international relations, finance and taxation, management of human resources, social sciences.

Master's degree in the following medical specialties- internal medicine, ophthalmology, pediatrics, radiology.

Doctoral degree- economics, law, social sciences.

University of the Isthmus(Universidad del Istmo)

Iis a private university in Guatemala, affiliated with Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church, which is responsible for matters relating to the Christian orientation of the school. The university was officially founded in 1997 as the successor institution of the Instituto Femenino de Estudios Superiores (which enrolled women) whose initial programs were Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, Degree in Hospitality, Certificate in Culinary Arts (the only program in which men were admitted), Diploma in Home Management, and Diploma in Theological Culture and Pedagogy of Faith among others.

The University officially opened its doors on 2 February 1998, when it welcomed 215 students. The founding faculties included

The School of Business and Economics- offered a bachelor's degree in Business Management with three minors: International Business, Hospitality and Tourism, and Hospitals and Service Companies.

The School of Architecture and Design- offered a degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Graphic Design in Communication, and Industrial Fashion Design.

The university then opened a Faculty of Law in 2001, School of Communication in 2004, and the School of Education and Engineering in 2005. It was established in 1999.

Mesoamerican University- (Universidad Mesoamericana)-

Is a private university in Guatemala and has branches in Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango.
