About Athens School of Fine Arts

The Athens School of Fine Arts originated from a small centre established in 1837, known as the Polytechnic or Technical Institute. In 1843, the Academy of Arts was divided into three departments, headed by a director:
First: Temporary schools that provide additional training for professionals
Second: a full-time school for young people interested in professional work in the industry
Third: full-time technical school.
In 1910, the Academy of Fine Arts spun off from the Polytechnic and found a dean. Finally, in 1930, the school was renamed the Academy of Fine Arts and established as an independent center for arts studies.
