The Athens School of Fine Arts originated from a small centre established in 1837, known as the Polytechnic or Technical Institute. In 1843, the Academy of Arts was divided into three departments, headed by a director:
First: Temporary schools that provide additional training for professionals
Second: a full-time school for young people interested in professional work in the industry
Third: full-time technical school.
In 1910, the Academy of Fine Arts spun off from the Polytechnic and found a dean. Finally, in 1930, the school was renamed the Academy of Fine Arts and established as an independent center for arts studies.

Agios Ioannis Rentis is a province and former district in the western part of Piraeus, Greece. Since the reorganization of the municipalities in 2011, it has been in Nikaia-Agios Ioannis Rentis district. The small river Euphrates also flows through it. There are two major transit routes through the district: Highway 1 (Athens-Thessaloniki) and the Piraeus-Platy railway. Attica's largest market, Agios Ioannis is in Rentis. It is the largest central market for vegetables, meat and other foods in Greece. Ioannis Rentis in Agios is one of the most important industrial areas of Athens. where large companies have their own factories. Athens School of Fine Arts is also conveniently located at Agios Ioannis Rentis.
