The Greeks have been able to preserve their national identity for centuries. Greece has been continually inhabited for around 7,000 years. The Greeks are still praised for birthing one of the earliest forms of civilization, The Olympic Games, Politics, Philosophy, and even Theatre.

Famous as a philosopher, scholar, and mathematician, Plato is the father of sociology and philosophy. Plato is also the country’s most influential teacher and is credited for opening ‘The Academy’, the first institute of higher learning in the world in Athens. Making Athens the home of the first university in the whole world.

Greek people are very cheerful and always chipper, the life expectancy in Greece is 80.3 years and is among the highest in the world. The Greek language has been spoken for more than 3,000 years making it one of the oldest languages on the European continent. Many words in the English language have Greek origin, come of them include words like ‘apology’, ‘marathon’, ‘typhoon’, ‘alphabet’ and thousands more.

Greeks are some of the friendliest people in the world and visitors fall in love instantly for their hospitality. Greek people are never overbearing or forward which is good compared to other southern countries.

People from Greece are the largest consumers of cheese, such that an average individual consumes approximately 27 kilograms of cheese every year. Feta cheese is very popular and well consumed in the country. Feta cheese is made from goat's milk and is the national cheese of Greece.

Greek coffee is very similar to Turkish coffee and now the most favorite coffee type in the country. There is a huge coffee culture among the Greeks and no day is complete without a cup of this beloved beverage.

Greek cuisine is also very popular around the world not only for its deliciousness but also for its health factor. Greek cuisine is one of the top healthiest ethnic cuisines in the world. Common greek foods include; Moussaka, Baklava, Bougatsa, Courgette balls, Dolmadakia Feta Me Meli and many more.

Just like many other European countries, Football is the national sport of Greece and it nows shares a crucial part of the Greek lifestyle. Around 97% of Greeks are Christians and identify with the greek orthodox church. In the same vein, about 97% of the people in Greeks are ethno-greek, making a very centralized society.
