The University of Ghana-It was established in 1948 and is the oldest and largest university in Ghana. It was formerly known as the University College of the Gold Coast and was renamed to the University College of Ghana in 1957 after independence and finally named the University of Ghana in 1961.

It is located in Legon which is 12km away from Accra. The University has more than 40 000 registered students. It is one of the very few universities in Africa offering programs in nuclear engineering and Physics.

Its main goal is to create an environment enabling enough and relevant to national and global development through cutting edge research and high-quality learning.

Its core values are integrity, Commitment, Respect, and Loyalty. The university offers equal opportunity to both male and female students.

Faculties at the University of Ghana include the faculty of Health Sciences which is broken down into 6 different schools which are the schools of medicine and Dentistry, Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, pharmacy, public health, and the school of Education and leadership.

Other faculties include the faculties of Basic and Applied sciences, Humanities, Education, Health Sciences, the faculty of arts, Social Studies, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, and the Faculty of Law.

The University of Ghana has 3 main Campuses namely:

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is a university located in Kumasi, Ashanti. It was established in 1952. It was ranked as the best university in Ghana and West Africa by the US News and World report. It was also ranked as 14th in Africa with a global score of 42.4.  The University is also divided into a collegiate system as shown below:

The college of Agriculture and Natural Resources which houses the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Faculty of Forest Resources.

The college of Health Sciences which houses the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Dental School, School of Medical Sciences, and the School of Veterinary medicine.

The college of Humanities and Social Sciences which houses the faculty of Law, the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Other colleges include the College of Art and Built environment which was formerly the College of Architecture and planning, the College of Engineering, the college of science, and the institute f distance learning.

The University offers undergraduate, master's, and Doctoral degrees in Arts, Education, Business Studies, Economics, Accountancy, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Marketing, Procurement, and supply chain management to name but a few.

The University of Cape Coast-it is located in Cape Coat and was established in 1962. The University was mainly established as a training place for teachers but has grown over the years to train doctors, health care practitioners, and legal practitioners to mention but a few.

Just like most Ghanaian Institutions, it also runs on a collegiate system with the following colleges, the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, the college of Distance education, the College of Education Studies, the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, the College of Health and Allied Sciences, the School of Graduate Studies Research, and the Centre for International Education.

The University Of Cape Coats offers degrees in programs like Arts, Music, Social sciences, Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Science, Economics, Psychology, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology, Nursing, Actuarial Sciences, Engineering Physics, information Technology optometry, Tourism, Procurement management and so many more.

University of Mines and Technology-the university is located in Tarkwa in Western Ghana. It was established in 1952 as the Tarkwa Technical Institute, then changed to Tarkwa School of mines and later changed to the University of Mines and Technology when it was elevated to a fully-fledged University in 2004.

The university is ranked at 7522in the World and  The University offers undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees in Geomantic Engineering, Mineral engineering, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Financial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electricals and Electronics, Petroleum Engineering to mention but a few.

UMaT has two main faculties namely the Faculty of Engineering which has departments such as the Departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the department of mechanical engineering, the department of mathematics, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering.

The second faculty is the faculty of Mineral Resources Technology which houses the department of Geological Engineering, Department of Geomantic Engineering, department of Mineral Engineering, Department of Mining Engineering, Department of Petroleum Engineering, and the Department of Environmental and Safety Engineering.

Asheshi University- it was established in 202 and is known as one of the best institutions that train students for industrialization. It is well known for being second best when it comes to Information and Technology in Ghana.

Programs offered include Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The university offers 4-year bachelor programs. Tuition fees range about $3758 per semester 

Central university-it was founded by the International Central Gospel Church in Accra as a pastoral training institute and grew over the years to incorporate other programs but all within a biblical perspective.

It is currently the biggest private university in Ghana. It offers programs such as Bachelor of Science in Economics, Psychology, Bachelors of Arts in Environment and Development Studies, Communication Studies, Theology, Sociology, Social Work, and French.

Other private institutions include the Presbyterian University College, Valley View University, Catholics University College, Webster University, and many more to choose from.
