Medical care at Sofia Unversity
If you are an EU/EEA citizen, you are entitled to free health care in Bulgaria based on E-111 form or of the European Health Insurance Card both issued in your home country.
In case of medical care needed you must present one of these documents together with your personal ID document.
If you come from a non-EU/EEA country, you should arrange for health insurance documents in your home country before visiting Bulgaria.
According to Bulgarian health regulations, foreign students must pay for any medical consultation or help. After you return the costs will be reimbursed by the health insurance company.

Student dormitories are aimed at meeting the housing needs of students, doctoral students, and full-time postgraduate students at St. Kliment Ohridski Sofia University whose families do not own a residential property in Sofia.
The hostels in the PESC contingent are family and non-family by their specification. Family dormitories are blocks 52, 55 and 57, accommodating family couples with or without children, as well as doctoral students and postgraduate students.
Due to the huge importance placed on the welfare of students, the University opened the Social Services Division to take care of students' needs, especially accommodation and feeding.
The main duties of the Social Services Division are related to the maintenance of the functional and operational status of university dormitories and canteens intended for students.
The department has over 6300 beds in the dormitories in the residential complex known as a student city, a restaurant which feeds about 3000 people daily, a restaurant in the Rector's building, as well as several cafes in the faculties.

Accommodation
Sofia is one of the cheapest European capital cities to live in. The cost of living in Sofia is not as pricey when compared to other cities in Europe and in the world. Students may choose to live in apartments off-campus at very affordable rates. Rent prices vary according to the area of location. A studio or a single-bedroom apartment in the city center could be rented for some 500 to 900 Bulgarian Lev per month respectively. In other neighborhoods, the same can cost around 350 and 650 lev per month.
Transportation
Sofia has a comprehensive public transport system based on trams, buses, trolleybuses and underground metro. Public transport generally runs from 5.30 am to around 11 pm every day. A single ticket for metro costs around 1.60 Lev. A single ticket for trolleybuses, buses and trams cost 1.60 Lev but a day’s pass cost around 4 Lev. Transportation in Sofia is considered very cheap.
