Application Requirements for Bulgaria Universities
The first stage of securing or gaining acceptance into any Bulgarian university or higher institution is the application stage. The procedure is very straight-forward and student applicants who can present the necessary documents, need no additional tests or documentation. Important requirements in order to be considered for admission into schools in Bulgaria include;
- The university application form to be filled and signed by the applicant exclusively stating their level of proficiency in the language of instruction that their proposed program is offered in for example courses are taught in Bulgaria, English, German, French across several universities in the country.
- For Bachelor students: An authenticated and valid copy of the applicant’s secondary school leaving certificate and results showing their individual grades in crucial subjects.
- For Post-graduate students: An authenticated copy of their bachelor’s/masters diploma or certificate and transcripts detailing the courses taken and grades attained in their last two years of study.
- A letter from the governing body of where the applicant's secondary school leaving diploma or certificate was issued, stating that the applicant is eligible to study in any higher institution in their home country.
- Health report from a reputable medical institution done not up to one month before the application was filed.
- A copy of the applicant’s passport bio-data page or ID
- 4 passport photographs taken recently.
- Language proficiency certificate; English : IELTS: 6.0; TOEFL: 550; French and German language proficiency are also needed for acceptance into programs offered in those languages.
(Furthermore, applicants from countries where English is the official language, applicants that already speak and write the English language at proficient levels, and do not have a foreign degree can write a short language test when they arrive in their respective departments at Bulgarian universities)
Please note that universities in Bulgaria reserve the right to request for their own application documents that they so desire, as their application processes all have independent procedures that they see fit to adopt.
Also, all the documents listed above have to be authenticated and rendered in Bulgarian and also notarized by the governing body responsible following the general Apostille procedure.
