All public universities and colleges award the students with diplomas and degrees that are accredited by the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council and the Brunei Darussalam Technical and Vocational Education Council.

University of Brunei Darussalam

It is the first university in Brunei. It was established in 1985 and has since become the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered.

it is ranked 86th in Asia and 254th in the world by the 2020 QS World University Rankings. As of 2015 it had 3 137 Students of which 84% were Undergraduates, and 16% were Postgraduates.

UBD opened its doors to international students from its inception.[3] Over the years there has been an increase in diversity, with many intyernational students coming from East Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The University offers a range of programmes that enhance international relations, such as the Brunei-US Enrichment Programme for ASEAN and the Discovery Year programme which encourages students to go abroad during the third year of their undergraduate programme.

University of Technology Brunei

It is a higher learning institution established in 1986. The institution offers Degree programmes in engineering, business and computing, to mention but a few. The institution was upgraded to a university in 2008. As of 2016 it had 139 Academic staff, 110Administrative staff, and 1674 Students .

Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning

The centre meets the language and soft skills needs of The Faculty of Engineering, School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, and the School of Applied Science and Mathematics. Communication Skills are designed to equip students to properly communicate in written and oral form in a Business or Engineering environment. Students learn through interactive videos, simulation, and practice sessions on how to be better communicators.

There is a Language Unit where Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Malay, and Mandarin Language classes are offered. The Melayu Islam Beraja Unit is a compulsory unit for every undergraduate in the university.

Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University

It is Brunei's second university. It was established in 2007 as the first national Islamic university in Brunei.
