About Universities in Australia for International Students
Although Australia has more than 200 universities, we selected just a few of them based on their ranking and affordability.
Heres a list of Australia’s top-ranking institutions (in no particular order);
University of Newcastle: The university was formed as a subsidiary of the new South Wales University of Technology but it is now an independent institution since 1965. This public institution is located in Newcastle, of New South Wales and boasts four campuses within Newcastle and across Australia and one campus overseas.
University of Technology Sydney: This is one of the youngest higher institutions in the country and was established in 1988.
The University of Adelaide: Located in the South of Australia, the university is now synonymous with its many achievements in scientific research and advancements. Popular discoveries like penicillin and sunscreen are all associated with the University of Adelaide.
The University of Western Australia: The school was founded in 1911 and continues to be a beacon of enlightenment and education in Australia, just as their motto states ‘Seek Wisdom’.
Monash University: With its father campus located in Melbourne, Australia, this modern university has other satellite campuses and institutes across the world operating with the same high standards delivering world-renowned academic excellence.
The University of Queensland: This university stands out amongst the others for their very diverse campuses, multicultural faculty members and a very unique international student body. The school has produced two Nobel Laureates and many world leaders today.
The University of New South Wales: The UNSW is situated in Kensington, one of the suburbs in Sydney, the most habited city in the country. The school is a mix of all subject areas a very wide range of programs and courses. The school also has various scholarship opportunities for foreign students.
The University of Sydney: Popularly known as ‘USyd’, the university was first founded in 1850 and remains the oldest public university in Australia. Today USyd is one of the leading institutions for research in the world and boasts of more than 20 satellite campuses both within the country and overseas.
The University of Melbourne: The University of Melbourne is one of the most reputable universities in Australia, with nine Nobel Laureates and more than 20 world changers to its belt, the school has garnered the most achievements more than any other institution in the country.
Australian National University: ANU is the country’s top university and located in the capital city of Canberra. This university is fully funded and operated by the government directly and remains the only university in the country that maintains that title.
