The Government Cadetship Scheme
The Scheme is funded by the Government of Zimbabwe in a bid to assist disadvantaged students to access tertiary education. Under the scheme, students get funding for tuition fees, while the remainder of the ancillary fees are paid by the student. All students are allowed to apply regardless of gender, and religion Applications are forwarded to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education for consideration.
The Capernaum Trust
This organization is a social responsibility arm of Econet Wireless that assists orphaned and severely disadvantaged children in society. Students are all invited to apply for this scheme.

Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST) is a modern and unique institution of higher learning established through an Act (Chapter 25:29) of Parliament in 2015. The University is driven by the vision to be a leading global Centre of excellence in the provision of technology-driven sustainable green agricultural solutions.
The University was declared an independent institution in August 2017 following its incubation by the University of Zimbabwe since 2012. It started its academic activities at the Dozmery Campus since 2013. The University opened another Campus at the Cold Storage Commission (CSC) Complex in 2018 intending to increase the Institution’s visibility and aggressively market its unique academic brand.
MUAST has witnessed two streams of graduates in Crop and Animal Science Disciplines. The University will soon start the construction of its own world-class main Campus at its Cloverhill Farm, approximately 5 km from Marondera Town. This is fundamentally aimed at turning Marondera into a University town as well as enabling all business people to consider the University as an important factor.

MUAST offers basic standard accommodation to its learners in the form of hostels. These are furnished with a table, beds, mattresses, chairs, a two-plate electric cooker, a bookshelf, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Students are expected to supply their own bed linens, cooking utensils, cutlery, and dishes.
Many students choose to move off-campus during their time at University. The University has lots of information available to support students if they decide to take this step and become a member of the local community.

The University has dining that has caterers that make good and tasty food. The University has a menu that caters for all the students. Special meals are also made upon request. Every student is required to have a meal ticket to be able to get food at the dining hall. The University has different meals for example Sadza and T-bone, Rice and Stewed Chicken, Chips, and fried chicken all these foods are made by the University Premium chefs.
In an event where you visit the DH be sure to try the ‘MUAST goulash special,’ this is usually a special meal or rather a unique and new recipe that the caterers try out every Friday. This will be an opportunity for one to try out new recipes. Some of the goulashes include the famous Sushi from China, Nigeria Agusi soup among others.
The University also has cultures days and in these days the Caterers make all the famous Zimbabwean traditional meals, for example, Okra, Umfushwa/ Mufushwa (dried vegetables), Biltong (dried meat), and Nhedzi (Wild Mushrooms)
In an event where one does not feel like having Dining hall food, Fast food outlets are 15 minutes’ walk from the University. The students may have access to outlets like Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn and Bakers Inn among others.
The University bus makes it easy to travel between the University Campus and the city. The University has scheduled days on which it travels to the city but mainly on Fridays. Students are expected to have bus tickets to be able to travel. These may be bought in weekly batches as well as monthly batches.
Using the bus is advantageous in that one has the opportunity to enjoy the good scenery of the city while they travel.

Marondera (known as Marandellas until 1982) is a city in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe, located about 72 km east of Harare. Marondera is a relatively small town that has a population amounting to 13 000 people. The language that is dominantly used is Shona.
The city has shopping malls, therefore, making everything readily available much to the student’s convenience. It is regarded as a historical site as it housed the VaRozvi from the History of Zimbabwe in late 1800. Marondera is a quiet yet refreshing city with a lot of entertainment centers from the movie houses, swimming pool centers, amusement parks as well as museums. Surely as a student you can never run out of entertainment options.
The cost of living is fairly manageable. The city has very friendly and warm people, one is guaranteed of making friends the minute they start living there. In as much as there is no place without crime, Marondera town has less crime compared to other cities therefore one is guaranteed to be staying in a safe place. With so many places to visit and a lot of recreation centers one is definitely guaranteed to have an enjoyable stay in the city.
