Rusangu University (RU) is an institution of higher learning operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It is licensed and registered as a private University under University Act 11 of 1999 by the Government of the Republic of Zambia. Levy Mwanawasa Medical University, is a public university in Lusaka, Zambia. Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) University is a private higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Lusaka. It was incorporated in 2016.ZCAS  is one of the top educational institutions in Zambia that never leaves the country’s top 5 places to study.

Eden University formerly known as Eden Institute was established in 2001 with support of the brethren from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The mandate of the institute then, as legally registered under the name willows academy, was to provide Technical Education and Vocational Training at Certificate, Diploma and advanced Diploma level. The institute was registered with TEVETA and accredited to City and Guilds. The vision is "to be a premium International Christian University providing quality education and training for sustainable development." the mission is "to provide competitive, responsive and quality tertiary education and research services in order to meet the current and emerging socio-economic needs of society.” 

Zambian Open University is a private university, founded in 2002. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The University boasts of a top academic record for its Law students in 2017 admitted to the bar followed by the University of Zambia.

The instituition was opened in 1967, as Kabwe Teacher's Training College. It trained Junior Secondary School Teachers at its inception. Four years later, the President of Zambia at that time, Kenneth Kaunda, renamed the college Nkrumah Teacher's College, in honour of Kwame Nkrumah, the founding president of Ghana. The mission is to deliver quality education, research and consultancy, that is responsive to the changing needs and values of the local, national and international communities. 

Chalimbana University was founded in 1939 as Jeanes Training Centre. It is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the rural setting of the metropolis of Lusaka. 

Mukuba University is a public university in Garneton, Kitwe, Zambia. A Public STEM University offering mathematics, science and technology programmes.
