The day to day life as a student can be very strenuous, with exams, lectures, research, and studying all going on simultaneously.

Students need to be able to take advantage of the resources provided to them such as the qualifies academic staff, properly stacked library, and lecture times to maximize their learning experience and come out with an internationally recognized degree from an internationally recognized university.

Zambian universities have their academic year in 2 semesters which are usually divided into14-18 weeks. In one academic semester, students have lectures, in-class exams, tutorials, and final exams that make up their total grade for a course.

Lectures start at 8 am and depending on your accommodation you can walk, drive, or catch a bus to campus. Lectures are usually dotted across the day and can total up to 6 hours a day, depending on the intensity of the student’s courses of that semester.

It is important to plan your day and know your timetable so that you can optimize your free time.

As a student that is studying in Zambia, you will experience a youth culture in most universities in the country especially in the capital Lusaka.

The demographics at universities highlights that Zambian universities have students who are averagely aged 21 years and highly active. This means that the campus is budding with vibrant and youthful ideas that are ready to be explored and put into reality. Be prepared to have fun whilst attaining a degree.

Student life can become convenient for those students who live on campus. This is because they are closer to the much-needed facilities and services that can help ease their way of living. This includes services like the dining hall, sports ground, the library, WiFi, laundry services, and security just to mention a few.

Students are advised to check with their campus of interest if it offers accommodation options on campus. The fees are usually cheaper and first preference is given to foreign students.

During their spare time, students can partake in extracurricular activities such as clubs, associations, and sports. Participating in these will help relieve the stress associated with studying and students are encouraged to partake in at least 1 activity.

The universities provide state of the art facilities for sports and other activities. İt is important for students to use these facilities for their benefits.
