Shopping in Zambia

Find Programs
(Bachelor's, Master's & PhD)

Zambia is endowed with a modern shopping experience. With Zambia being one of the most urbanized countries in Africa, the country has international standard shopping malls that can standoff in the global scene and are home to international shops.

As a student one thing to follow religiously is buying cheap and saving. There is a need for students to familiarise themselves with places to shop for different necessities.

Levy Junction Shopping Centre, Manda Hill Shopping Centre, and Arcades Shopping center have all the much needed retail shops, pharmacies, cinemas, restaurants, and banks you can get in International standard shopping malls. You can pick up your necessities at any of these shopping malls with very little hassle.

Despite the modern feel to shopping, Zambia like most African countries still has the aesthetics of open markets filled with fresh produce and fabrics. This shopping experience is never a dull moment and is much cheaper due to the bargaining culture practiced at the markets.

One such place is the Sunday Market in Lusaka a weekly market that offers the best range of handicrafts and fabrics.

The market is held at the Arcades Shopping Centre car park and attracts both locals and foreigners who are always looking at buying carvings, curios, and African print materials in a low-pressure affair environment.

For the convenience of your shopping, some universities, like the University of Zambia have world-class shopping malls on campus.

In addition to this, the campus is surrounded by shopping centers which are a walking distance from the main campus. There is no need for students to travel far and wide in search of basic necessities such as toiletries, clothes, and groceries.

"I enjoy shopping and I found it affordable but some of the clothes are definitely not of the highest quality." - Hassan from Turkey
