Airports in VIETNAM

There are many international and regional airports in Vietnam. Details are as follows:

Can Tho International Airport- this is an airport located in Can Tho in Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. It was inaugurated on the 1st of January 2011 and has the ability to process up to 5 million passengers a year. It serves air travel in the region.

Da Nang International Airport

It is the third international airport in the country which is an important gateway to access central Vietnam. It is a dual airport for both passenger flights  and shared with the Vietnamese Airfoce.

As of 2014 the airport served 5 million passengers. An expansion of the new terminal is currently considered to increase its capacity to 10 million passengers per annum.The airport handled 6 722 587 passengers in 2015, showing an increase of 34.7% compared with that of 2014. in 2017 it showed an increase of 24.1% compared to that of 2016, with an estimated 11 million passengers.

The airport has two separate terminals for international and domestic passengers. The Hanoi-Danang and Ho Chi Minh City-Danang routes have 319 and 250 weekly flights respectively

A new terminal with a capacity of 4 million passengers per year, was opened to receive its first domestic flights on 15 December 2011. The new terminal includes five boarding gates, baggage handling systems, departure and arrivals areas, flight information display system, common user terminal equipment, fire detection systems and comprehensive public address and security systems, including screening equipment.

 Noi Bai International Airport

It is the largest airport in Vietnam in terms of total capacity and is also the second busiest airport after Tan Son Nhat International Airport. It is the main airport serving Hanoi and consists of two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 serves 

domestic flights, and the newly built Terminal 2 serves all international flights to and from Hanoi. The airport is currently the main hub of the country’s flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, and other airlines including Bamboo Airways, Jetstar Pacific and Vietjet Air.

The airport is located in Phu Minh Commune about 35 kilometres northeast of downtown Hanoi. The airport served a total of 13 million passengers as of  2013. The new international terminal had its first commercial flight in 2014 and has boosted the airport's total capacity to 20 million passengers per year.

Tan Sơn Nhat International Airport

This is an airport serving Ho Chi Minh City and the rest of southeastern Vietnam.it is the busiest airport in Vietnam with 32.5 million passengers recorded in 2016, and then 38.5 million passengers as of 2018. Hanoi route is the busiest in Southeast Asia and the sixth busiest in the world.

Cam Ranh International Airport

It is an airport located on Cam Ranh Bay in Cam Ranh. The airport serves the city of Nha Trang, which is located about 30 km from the airport. The airport handled about 4 858 362 passengers in 2016, and 8.5 million passengers in 2018.

This is the only airport in Vietnam that handles more international passengers than domestic passengers and is the fourth busiest airport in Vietnam. Cam Ranh Terminal 1 is used for domestic regional or city to city flights and Cam Ranh Terminal 2 is mainly used for international flights.

Phu Quoc International Airport - is an international airport located on Phu Quoc Island, in southern Vietnam. It was completed in 2012 and about 10 km from the previous Phu Quoc Airport, which it replaced .

The airport was initially able to handle about 2.5 million passengers per annum, which the government sought to increase to 7 million passengers per annum, with international destinations expected to include Singapore and Sihanoukville International Airport. The government also expects the airport to facilitate the arrival of international tourists who are attracted to the island's beaches.
