About Ankara Music and Fine Arts University

Ankara Music and Fine Arts University were established in 2017, the university campus has a closed area of 23600 m² and a surface area of 54462 m² and includes 4 Faculties, 1 Institute and 1 Vocational School.

Education is one of the main instruments that guide the change and development of societies and ensure their formation step by step. The diversified needs and studies in the 21st century now necessitate specialization for each discipline and branch.

In this context, the increasing trend in the world in recent years is toward the establishment of thematic universities. The thematic university model, which includes the phenomenon of a specialized university that acts to focus on a specific field and be the best in its field, is becoming more widespread in the world day by day.

There are many examples of such institutions in many parts of the world, but their number is still low in our country, and they do not exist in the field of music.

Institutions that provide music education within the body of "faculty of fine arts, faculty of education, conservatory, vocational school" in the country, are in a situation that contains contradictions due to a conflict ground that takes its source from the discussions and approaches of the last few centuries and continues today in various aspects. Eastern-Western, contemporary-antiquated, progressive-regressive, etc.

This negative attitude around the concepts is far from responding to the artistic development and national-international goals of our country in the 21st century, and this situation has required the establishment of a world-class thematic music university that will embrace and deal with the rich potential and cultural diversity of the country holistically.

Ankara University of Music and Fine Arts is an institution that takes its soul from Anatolia, but can look at the world with a broad civilizational horizon by observing universality, and evaluating all the possibilities regarding art as a positive potential.

Such an institution that is productive, dynamic, encourages R&D and innovation, allows creative ideas to sprout, directs change with its pioneering structure, trains expert scientists and artists, has a strong identity representation, and will make a difference in its field; It will also be an important step in terms of international relations, which will make a significant contribution, and the presence and strong representation of culture and arts in the national and international arena.

The university is an institution that can interpret the relationship between art and culture, cultural identity and society in the most accurate way, and that can also affect Turkey's culture and art understanding and policies.

This will also be one of the effective ways of reinforcing feelings of unity, solidarity, brotherhood, social peace and harmony with the pluralistic and unifying structure of art in a country where different beliefs and cultures live together.

In the light of these approaches, the mission of Ankara Music and Fine Arts University is to contribute to the advancement of artistic, educational, scientific and philosophical knowledge on a national, regional and global scale, to the representation of our country and the development of public opinion, in line with the principles of creativity, productivity and entrepreneurship; to become a leading, preferred and respected university at the national and international level, to produce science and art in the light of universal science and contemporary education and training principles, and to provide its students with world-class professional knowledge, skills and equipment; To educate people of art, science, education and thought who is innovative, competitive, universal and respectful to social value judgments and professional ethics, and to serve humanity through scientific-artistic projects and publications.
