Applicants prospecting to study at will Higher Colleges of Technology be assessed on an individual basis, based on their country’s academic qualifications and standards. The language of instruction and assessment for all programs at the University is English for international programs with exceptions.

In 1985, H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, made a commitment to establish a new system of post-secondary education for UAE Nationals that would stress the ideals of productivity, self-determination and excellence.
His Excellency envisioned a system of the highest quality that would be used to educate Nationals for the professional and technical careers necessary in a rapidly developing society.

On the other hand, off-campus accommodation (within range of the university) with similar features is available, with prices depending on the specific need of the student. Costs also include water and electricity bills. There is also a chance to rent accommodation from a private landlord or estate agent.
Prices fluctuate greatly depending on the location and quality of the apartment, however, the price of housing here averages around 200 to 350 EUR per month
That said, students are often encouraged to stay on campus for at least a year as they find their way around and are hence able to find help from university staff at any time.
In case of assistance to acquire off-campus accommodation, University does assist its students.
Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) has several modern cafeteria outlets which serve full meals, and refreshments throughout the day as well as providing a comfortable and relaxing social environment.
The various campus canteens are open on from as early as 0700hrs till late and offer different servings 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have a very easy-going social scenery allowing students to relax and chat (Wi-Fi access points available).
The dishes served include but are not limited to meat (all sorts), rice, pasta, potatoes, and dairy, pizza and vegetarian meals. On the go quick bites and snacks, plus Hot and cold beverages are also included as well.
Meals are prepared in a professional, manner by well-trained and friendly kitchen staff and taste delicious.
Madinat Zayed is the largest town and the administrative centre of Al Gharbia, the westernmost and largest region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Madinat Zayed is situated 180 km (110 mi) southwest of the capital city of Abu Dhabi, and 50 km (31 mi) from the coast. The principal road is E45, which connects the town with the E11 in the north and the Liwa Oasis in the south. Another main road leads to Ghayathi.
