United Arab Emirates (UAE) Visa Requirements

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Visa Requirements

International students need a student visa in order to travel into the country for learning purposes over a duration of time. There is a yearly student residence permit that is issued to students per one academic year of their respective programs. This residence visa is only renewed on the condition that student is enrolled in an academic program in the country.

Please note that student visas are issued to students with a sponsor, that is, every student must have a sponsor that is either in their immediate family, a relative or an organization. In the event of none, the student can request for sponsorship from the university and it will be provided.

Also, citizens of countries in Europe or the EU can come into the UAE visa-free for 90 days, after which they must apply for a student residence visa in order to continue their stay as a student in the country.

Students are more likely to receive a visa if they have a sponsor but this is not necessarily an assurance that they will receive the visa.

The following are the general requirements for a student visa in the UAE;

  • Passport or travel documents (4 copies)
  • Twelve passport photographs
  • Acceptance letter from a recognized institution in the UAE
  • Proof of financial capability
  • Proof of accommodation (The university can also provide this document if the student chooses to stay within its campus)
  • Receipt of tuition payment for one year of the study program
  • Receipt of visa fee payment
  • Postgraduate applicants must present a bachelors diploma or degree from a recognized institution.
