About Universities in Taiwan for international students

In the academic school year of 2018, there were 127 universities registered in Taiwan, two universities less than the previous school year. Both private and public universities are accredited to grant bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees.

Taiwan is known for its research and engineering programs. Around 25% of their programs are in this field. Tuition fees in Taiwan go from USD$1.000 to USD$5.000 per year. They usually stay below USD$3.000.

Bachelor degree programs last for four years, master degree programs last between two and four years, and doctorate degree programs usually last for three years but can be longer. There are exceptions like medicine, whose programs last for six years.

There are vocational schools that have two-year programs that grant certificates and five-year flexible programs that grant associate’s degrees.
