Primary education in South Sudan generally starts at age 6 and lasts for eight years from grades P1 to P8 in the old system that is being phased out. In the system being phased in as of 2020/21, it lasts for years from P1 to P6.  At the end of the primary cycle, pupils are required to pass the Primary Leaving Exam (PLE) which is a requirement to proceed to secondary education. Primary education is free and accessible to all citizens in South Sudan, regardless of sex, race, and ethnicity, health status, gender, or disability.

Loreto Rumbek Primary and Secondary School

This is a single-sex school in south Sudan that offers education to girls aged 5 to 20 years. It is made up of a primary school and a secondary school and Primary Health Care sections. The primary school runs from primary 1 to primary 8 (P1- P8) and has a kindergarten section a well. the school aims to facilitate the development of each student so they may reach their full academic, personal, spiritual, and social potential in a caring, respectful, happy, and safe school environment.

Elementary curriculum- The primary school section offers a variety of subjects including  Mathematics, English, Christian Religious Education (CRE), Science, Social studies, Life Skills, and Dinka. The school also offers a transitional year where they study for 1 academic year in primary 8 (P8). it is aimed at students who didn't perform well in Mathematics and English to improve the subjects before they join senior 1 (S1).

Extracurricular activities- The students also supplement their studies with various activities offered here. They include sports, drama, girl child education and empowerment, science exploration, coding or robotics, engineering, and literacy and mathematics support, to mention but a few. The Clubs include Remedial English and Mathematics, Coding / Robotics, Science Exploration, Engineering Club, Drama Club, Let Me Speak Club, and the Sports Club.

 

 

Midset Junior Academy Nursery and Primary school

This is a private, coeducational School offering comprehensive and modest Education to all students and offers Nursery, Primary and secondary sections. This is a Christian-based school but accepts children from any other religion. The school has qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers who are ready to handle the individual needs of each child. The primary section here starts from primary 1 to primary 8 (P1 to P8) according to the curriculum of the Republic of South Sudan. On completion of primary school, students will sit for the primary leaving examinations, and the school is dedicated to ensuring that the candidates all excel in the primary leaving examinations.
