Nicosia (Lefkosia in Greek) is the capital city of the Republic of Cyprus. It is a city with rich history drawing from many centuries ago. Cyprus as an Island has seen many civilizations passed through it, each leaving its legacy, and this is highly reflective in Nicosia. As the seat of power, there are numerous government offices and amenities present here, the serenity of the town can also be easily felt due to its low population.
Nicosia is one of the most exciting and hospitable cities in which to live and study in Cyprus. Energetic and diverse, Nicosia is home to a number of universities, so it has a large student population and a vibrant student life. Most students live close to the university campus, which is located in the modern, up-scale area of Engomi. The city’s nightclubs are popular student destinations, as are the cafés with a distinctly European feel. Numerous cinemas and the Nicosia Mall are located just minutes away from the university. The shopping scene of the city has been enhanced with three modern malls and additional high street venues. Nicosia has an active events' calendar with concerts, and festivals throughout the year. The Pedieos walking trail, which runs the length of the city and ends right in its heart, offers an excellent opportunity for relaxing walks or challenging workouts on foot or by bike in nature.
