For entry into secondary school in South Africa, these are the general requirements that prospective students must consider. These include:

  • Application forms
  • Passport-size photographs for students
  • Passport photographs of parents or guardians
  • Medical Reports
  • Copy of the birth certificate
  • A nonrefundable application fee
  • Current  term report or reports from the previous school
  • Proof of Residence in South Africa
  • Proof of Identification (National I.D or passport)
  • Passport biodata page
  • Recommendation letter from the previous school
  • Students will also take an assessment or entrance exam where applicable.

 

Do I need a visa to study at South African Schools?

All foreign students intending to study in South Africa must have a study visa. They must have a study permit as well. To obtain a South African study visa, the following are required:

A foreign student intending to study in South Africa can apply for a study visa by completing the BI-1738 form along with the following documents:

  • A passport valid for more than 30 days
  • Payment of the application fee 

  • A vaccination certificate
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay (bank statements, cash available, or 
travelers’ cheques)

  • Proof of medical cover 

  • A cash deposit equivalent to the value of a return ticket.
  • Medical and radiology reports 

  • Birth certificate for minors. 

  • In the case of a minor, the particulars of the person in the Republic of South Africa who will act as the learner’s guardian and a letter from such person confirming guardianship
  • Consent from both parents or a guardian for your stay in South Africa, along with proof of sole custody
  • An official letter from the educational institution, where you intend to study, confirming provisional acceptance and the duration of the course.
  • Proof of South African medical cover
