UASZ also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.

The UAD is part of the classic training of universities with the fundamental disciplines, in particular in exact and experimental sciences such as STEMS or medicine; economics and legal engineering; sociology ; training dedicated to the agricultural world for the Senegal of the future with ISFAR, but also innovative training such as Health and Sustainable Development.

Gaston Berger University, or L'Université Gaston Berger, located some 12 km outside Saint-Louis, was the second university established in Senegal. Originally the University of Saint-Louis, it was renamed for Gaston Berger, an important French-Senegalese philosopher.
