Saba University School of Medicine was founded in 1992 with a bold vision: to establish an international alternative to U.S. and Canadian medical schools that would provide an excellent medical education and expansive career opportunities.
Saba University School of Medicine is one of the world’s leading international medical schools, with nearly a 30-year history of educating outstanding physicians. Saba students earn top residencies at medical centers across the US and Canada.
International study environmentThe institution is largely diversified, friendly and united racial environment (students from over 165 countries), hence new students can easily assimilate and feel at home. |
Small Class SizesEncouraging a uniquely close relationship between student and professor, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 7:1. |
CampusModern campus on a beautiful island in the Caribbean. |
InnovationThe university emphasises the importance of establishing, nurturing and developing an innovative culture within each student for the global market. |
To ease your transition, unaccompanied first-semester students live in one of three on-campus dorms, built exclusively for Saba University medical students.
Dorm rooms come in a range of sizes, including quads, doubles and singles, and are assigned based on availability. Dorm rooms are fully equipped with beds, private baths, closets, ceiling fans, air conditioning, refrigerators, microwaves, desks, chairs and lamps. Pay-per-use laundry facilities are located on the premises.
All new, incoming unaccompanied students, single or married, are required to live in the dorms during their first semester.
After first semester, all students live off campus. A wide range of fully furnished apartments and houses are available for rent throughout the island. In addition, many families on Saba have private rooms for rent.
Saba is known for its charming, Dutch-inspired architecture, and many homes afford stunning views of the water and mountains.
All rentals are completely furnished, which includes linens, towels and fans. On average, fully furnished housing prices start in the range of $650 for a studio/one bedroom apartment and up to $1,200 – $1,800 for a 3-4 bedroom house. All properties are privately owned, and therefore the price of rentals and utilities varies. Electricity is generally a separate cost.
The campus cafeteria offers students and faculty breakfast and lunch during the week. The cafeteria is open Monday–Friday during school hours. Prices range from $1.00 to $6.00 including daily specials.
Saba University has several school vans that provide transportation to and from class for students living off-campus.
The Bottom is the capital and largest town of the island of Saba, the Caribbean Netherlands, and is the first stop on the way from Saba's Port in Fort Bay towards the rest of the island. As capital of the island, The Bottom hosts a number of events throughout the year.
