Foreign citizens and stateless persons who speak Russian have the opportunity to enter the Institutes and Higher Educational Schools of Pyatigorsk State University for full-time and part-time (distance) forms of education on a full cost recovery basis (paid tuition).

PSU in partnership with RocApply invites foreign students to apply to any of its prestigious programs, and be well on a journey to many great things.

Foreign citizens have the opportunity to enter the Institutes and Higher Schools of the Pyatigorsk State University for full-time study at places for training at the expense of budgetary allocations (training on a free basis) in accordance with international treaties of the Russian Federation, federal laws, or the quota for foreign education established by the Government of the Russian Federation. Citizens and stateless persons according to the Rules of admission.

Application for Admission

Foreign applicants entering full-time study programs at Institutes and Higher Schools, in the period from June 20 to August 4, according to the Information on the timing of admission.

Applicants are expected to fill out and send in the electronic form to our team at the email address: [email protected] adding to the application for admission, all the necessary documents:

  • Scanned copy of the passport (page with photo and personal data);
  • Certified translation of the passport;
  • Scanned copy of the education document (diploma, certificate, transcripts;
  • Certified translation of the educational document;
  • Scanned copy of a medical certificate of health
  • Two passport photos.

Translations of documents must be certified by the Consulate of the Russian Federation in the country of issue or by a notary in Russia.

In case of admission, the originals of documents (passport translation, educational document, medical certificate of health status, 6 3x4 photos on matte paper) are submitted by foreign citizens upon arrival at the university by the beginning of class.

Entrance examinations

In the period from July 15 to August 7, PSU undergoes internal entrance examinations according to the schedule established by the admissions committee of the university.

Foreign applicants who speak Russian and who have applied for full-time studies based on full reimbursement of the costs of undergraduate and specialist programs, pass entrance tests in Russian and foreign languages following the Admission Rules.

Foreign applicants who speak Russian and have applied for full-time study at the expense of budgetary allocations for undergraduate and specialty programs pass entrance tests under the Admission Rules. Foreign applicants who speak Russian have the right to pass internal entrance tests using distance technologies through the electronic educational environment of PSU.

The results of the unified state examination (USE) are accepted as the results of entrance examinations.

Visa

Applicants from countries with which visa-free status is valid do not need a visa (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Moldova). For applicants from countries with a visa regime, PSU issues appropriate invitations to study to obtain an entry student visa valid for 90 days. After this period, the university re-issues an entry visa into a multiple-entry student visa.

Its feature for decades remains that it is one of the few universities in the country that provides specialized training in the field of foreign languages and intercultural communication, and the main university in this area in the entire South of Russia.

The campus is located in one of the most picturesque places in Pyatigorsk - the pearl of Stavropol and the Caucasian Mineral Waters, the city praised by Lermontov, Pushkin, Tolstoy, in 2010, by the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, became the capital of the North Caucasus Federal District.

The university has a rich history and glorious traditions, the origins of which date back to 1939. Then the Pyatigorsk State Pedagogical Institute was founded, in 1961 it was transformed into a Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, in 1995 it received the status of a linguistic university, and since 2006 it has been carrying out a course on the transition from a traditional university to a creative innovative university, an advanced center of education, science and innovation.

Today, about 4,500 students of secondary and higher professional education, undergraduates, postgraduates, interns, as well as about 2,000 students of the continuous education system from 56 regions of Russia and 34 foreign countries study at the institutes and higher schools, at the faculties and departments of PSU.

The University provides training in eleven specialties of secondary vocational education. Since 2018, admission to the following of them will be carried out: advertising; hotel service; tourism; law and organization of social security; Applied Informatics; organization and technology of information protection; ensuring information security of automated systems; social and cultural activities; social and cultural activities; social work; insurance business; operating activities in logistics; graphic design - and everywhere with in-depth study of foreign languages.

Higher education training at the university has been transferred to a multilevel system except for a few special specialties. Innovation

In 2011, a set of strategic documents of the university was approved and is being implemented - "Strategy-2020 PSU" - meaningfully and in terms of time, correlating with the general development strategy of the Russian state and society for the next decade.

The program of strategic development of the university for 2012-2016 has been approved and has already been implemented: "Profi-Soci-Lingua 2012-2016: the formation of an advanced university scientific, educational and innovative center of the world level in the social and humanitarian sphere on the territory of the Stavropol Territory and the North Caucasus by strengthening integration science, education, youth project, volunteer and service activities of innovative entrepreneurship”.

Currently, a new Strategic University Development Program for 2017-2021 has been developed.

Since 2007, at the university, on the initiative of the rector, Professor A.P. Gorbunov carried out the creation of a new infrastructure that did not exist before - the infrastructure of innovation.

A normative model for the development of the university as an innovative structure operating in the system of the creative economy based on intellectual property management was created and approved by the decisions of the Academic Council.

PSU has created a developed infrastructure for innovation and project activities, which is integrated into the Technobiznespark system and includes scientific, educational and innovative complexes (NOICs), scientific, educational and innovative laboratories (NOILs), the Center for Intellectual Property Management, Technology Transfer and Commercialization of Scientific Developments, Salon innovations, Incubator of Competences and Businesses, Directorate of innovative and technological entrepreneurship, "Innovation belt" of small, intelligent enterprises, student agencies and Business centers.

Since the 2008/2009 academic year, declared at the university as the first “Year of Methodological Innovation”, the strategic program "Development and implementation of systemic innovative educational technologies" was launched.

The creation and implementation of a complex of the latest teaching methods and techniques have begun, including the formation of a virtual educational environment of the university, with the help of which the learning process will become even more interesting and effective.

In all Institutes and Higher Schools of the University, councils of employers' representatives have been created, taking part in the discussion of the content of professional training programs and the work of commissions for the final certification of graduates

Internationalization

Pyatigorsk State University is a recognized center of peacemaking in the North Caucasus, a university focused on solving social problems of the region. Since 1996, on the initiative of university scientists, the program "Peace through languages, education, culture" has been implemented, within the framework of which 7 International congresses were held based on the university, which had a great impact on the situation in the North Caucasus region, and the VI congress (October 2010) a new wider format was defined: Russia - Greater Caucasus - World community.

These dynamics, based on forty years of traditions of international cooperation and the principles of internationalization of higher education, determine today the main priorities in the activities of the Department of International Relations and Educational Programs, Institutes and Higher Schools of the University.

Medical insurance

Foreign students are required to have health insurance. The University provides assistance in obtaining medical insurance for free medical care in medical institutions on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Inclusive Environment

To create special conditions for students with disabilities and people with disabilities to receive education and vocational training following their needs and capabilities, PSU created universal workplaces equipped with special technical teaching aids designed to train people with disabilities and people with disabilities.

    Pyatigorsk is a resort town located in the Stavropol Territory of Russia. It is the oldest medical and mud resort of federal importance, as well as an industrial, commercial, scientific, cultural, and tourism center of the ecological resort of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. Pyatigorsk has a population of about 146,000 (2015), and a land area that measures 97 sq. km.
