The country boasts some huge open-air discos, prestigious clubs that attract big-name international DJs, and loads of discos where you can get up on the dance floor to the latest vibes. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’re regular club events organized on the beach and in the desert dunes.

The Royal Papua Yacht Club is a great spot at which to enjoy a relaxing beverage. The best live music club in the city is Gold Club, while Ozzie’s Bar is a popular watering hole among locals and expatriates.

If you fancy an evening out, you can choose from a a lot of the many lounge bars that have sprung up over the last decade.

In an American-style bar, a pub, or a Latino club, you can keep your strength up with some sushi or some tapas between the bar and the dance floor. Whether you’re into 90s rock, afrobeat, R’n’B, or progressive house, you will find the perfect ambiance for you.

There is great nightlife in the major urban areas, but when going out in Port Moresby or Lae, it is best to travel in groups, as some places can get a little seedy after dark. Clubs don’t close until the early hours of the morning in cities like Lae and Port Moresby.
